Since Spicytigger indicated she took the sample to her local extension office. I did the same for my problem so I can be sure I know what it is.
Under the mircoscope, they saw it was mealy bugs. They advised me to put 1 tbl spoons dish soap and 1 tbl spoon vegetable oil with 1 quart water every week for 3 weeks.
I will give it a try. She did say that the oil helps in the battle.
Excellent hon, glad I could be a little helpful. I'm getting ready to pull all my plants and start new set. ( I know its getting late ) No sense in keeping sick plants. Looks like the insecticidal soap I used took care of them, just have to scrape off the dead black spots. My one and only pod on the plant is starting to turn yellow so looks like a Golden Hab.
