Hi from Virginia Beach, VA

Hi everyone, I am currently living in Virginia Beach, VA. and working in the Navy. Have been in the Navy for 16 1/2 years and almost done. I am originially from Birmingham, Alabama go Tide!! I have always like spicy food and hot peppers. Started out on some Jalapeno's and Tabasco peppers. I really took an interest recently in growing my own peppers. I really like Habenero's so i started with those. Since then I have researched about how to grow peppers properly and the different varieties of them. I, for some reason, thought it a good idea to grow the following: Trinidad Scorpion Tails, Trinidad 7 pots, Chocolate Habenero's, White Habenero's, Orange Habenero's, Chinese 5 Colors, and Jalapeno's. I am also trying to germinate some Bhut Jolokia's but I also know how hard it is. It has been a week and a half since and no sprouts yet. Gotta keep a possitive look on this. So far, all others are growing. Not bad for a first timer. CANNOT wait to try some new peppers. I always love new advice and other peoples experiences in growing, especially since I don't know what I am doing. I would love to find someone locally that I could collaborate with. I hope this all goes well and I get a good crop of peppers. Gotta get a dehydrator too so I can salvage some seeds for next year. Well, that's all for now. Thanks for hearing me out.

Anticipation is a killer isn't it! you shouldn't need a dehydrator for seeds they may over heat and kill em maybe.:(

:welcome: From Orlando, FL
"STG Sonar Technician A.K.A. Submarine Hunter" my step father worked with Sonar / Radar in the Navy (33 year man). He spent alot of time on Mine Sweepers and his last billet was aboard the USS America (CV-66). My brother and I went Army though. Of course we always liked the Navy, y'all always give us a ride whenever we need to go anywhere

I hope these Pics are working. Some of the things going on at my house. I am using 2 fluorescent plant lights and one Aquarium heat lamp to maintain temp placed in a water heater closet. So far so good on all the rest. Crossing my fingers for Bhut Jolokia's.

Hey Welcome :welcome: from Oklahoma. I used to have a bunch of friends from hueytown.
Read the topics covering seed germination for faster germ rates. Great advice in there for using cups. My first ones I used starter soil and it took up to five weeks to get growth. Maybe a week for ALL seeds using the cup method.

Hey :welcome: from Central CA. You came to the right place for growing, I learned so much here.

Don't need a dehydrator for seeds, just air dry. They're great for drying peppers and get a cheapy coffee grinder for powders.

And thanks for your service

My god Rich you remind me of my wife, she has a similar background as well. Well I guess I better go a little easier on you in the future!!

She too was a top marksman in the Balkan Army, but refused to take part in what she called an unjust war!! Opt out and came to America. I've seen pictures of her in full army fatigues with her automatic weapon standing guard over a bunker. The funny thing is I didn't learn about this until after we were married…go figure.
