Hot food and Breast feeding

OK, keep it clean everyone...

A friend was telling me that he accidentally over peppered (as in pepper and salt, not chilli) his wife's dinner and that night and next day, the young bub didn't want to feed or was upset, presumably because the milk had been tainted by the ingested spice.

This leads to my question:

Will ingestion of chilli by mummy perhaps influence bubby to liking chilli?

All I can tell you for sure is to avoid spicey foods with kids until they can use the crapper on their own. Changing diapers is bad enough, but hot/spicey food......no freakin way man!

I've heard that alot of what is eaten goes directly to breast milk. So it wouldn't surprise me if capsacin can get into the mix.

Good boy Phil.

My wife eats hab powder on lots of things, and our 6 month old doesn't seem to mind. So either heat doesn't transfer, or little Griff doesn't mind it.

As much as I'd like think that he is just a chip off of the old block, I am pretty sure that spice doesn't transfer.

Ahem, let's just say that my wife's nips are definitely sensetive to spice. So spicy baby milk would probably irritate them.

Finding out your wife is sensitive to chili powder...priceless.

So...i wonder if you could breed a pepper loving, heat tolerant kid by giving them hot peppers from the age of solid food eating? When i have a future weirdo of my own to raise, i expect i'll give them tons of weird foods to enjoy. Somehow i doubt my girl would want hot pepper on her feeders though. We had an "accident" after dinner one time and she wasn't too happy with my unwashed hands.

This thread could oh so easily derail.

OK, here's the obligatory:

OHHHHHHHHHHHH.................................OK

Last night I sliced some jalapenos into some guacamole for my lunch the next day. I thought that I washed my hands. During the night I scratched my...um....sack....

It was far from agony, but it was less than pleasant. Anywho it reminded me of when I would slice up habs (as a noob) and accidentally touch myself when urinating.

(Relax, I am getting to it)

There was this one time that after just such a lapse of of judgement, that I molested my wife;). During, she acted like it was a real turn-on, but soon after, she commented that the vaguely unpleasant burning had passed to her also.

Funny how capsaicin holds on and won't let go, but transfers so easily in such situations.

OK, thanks for the answers all, now let's get derailed!

well it sounds like your wife is expecting, or you plan on doing the breast feeding method when the time comes - which has many benefits, from some studies, & the bonus of'em being nice & plump

well why dont you test this theory out & forget bottling it, nothing better than straight from the source
& ya never know you might like chile milk
