Due to the publicity, her teaching career is done whether she likes it or not and I do agree that she has no remorse.

Why would that be? Hell man, child molesters who are caught molesting children simply move to another state and get a job right back in a classroom with children. The control on this type of thing is almost non-existent.

Of course, then when you try to make people register for anything, everyone starts whining about having to register and they start bitching about being tracked by the government.

My point of view is that I do nothing wrong. I harm no one, I break no laws. I have nothing to hide. Nothing. If the government wants to put a camera on my street to record every movement on it, I couldn't care less. They won't "catch" me doing anything. They might catch a lot of bad guys that way though.

Those who scream the loudest at being watched or tracked, are those who are hiding something....usually.

Hell, my life is as simple as it gets. I think it would probably bore anyone watching it.

This paragraph sounds contradictory. Would you, as a parent of a autistic child, want to place him in a class with a "normal" buddy that could (and most probably would) dare him to do strange things? We all know how 7 year olds are because we were all ones once ourselves. Definitely a bad idea!

Actually 75% of the children they do this with impove on things by doing this. My child had the mentality and was about as educated as a 3 yr old until they started this 2 yrs ago, and he is 9 now. He can read somethings, and also talk in comlpete sentences with a hugh vocabulary. And the children they pair them with are not your everyday students, but ones who excel in their classes. If these "mentor" children get into any kind of trouble at school, they are out of the program.The child that is paired with my son actually comes and works with him outside of school to help him more.

Maybe I'm naive but I would think that she would have to have references while applying for a future job and, most likely, those references would be checked. It is surprising how easily the dirt on someone comes up in this process and, even if she falls through the cracks at first, the rumor mill will catch up with her eventually. It was in the national media, after all.

I am really happy to hear your son's success story with the mentor program. This actually sounds like a great program and that it is carefully monitored. I didn't know that the mentors were specially selected students.

I agree. However, as I said, child molestors find employment working with children all the time. We hear about some who get away with it for years. I wonder how many get away with it until they molest another child and get caught....or not?

Well I wouldn't put her in the molester category for doing what she did. I just hope that if she gets another teaching job it is not with disabled kids.

IMO, she was just careless, not malicious.

Better to have left the spicy cola in the teacher's lounge fridge though.

I dated a gal who was a spec. ed. teacher and she was never seen without a can of diet coke around. Granted, it was sans spicy.

The kids, unless truly retarded in the clinical sense, shouldn't have been drinking her pop in the first place. Perhaps they learned something about taking what doesn't belong to you.

I agree with florida sun, this teacher should not have had a can of pop on her desk where students had access to it. If she likes it spicy that's her choice. That is the main thing I would have considered inappropriate.
