well then, mi amigo, listen to the heart and maybe do the drive up option. Keep it good~~~

heck, I'm thinking as a processor and I'd be right there asking for "first rights" to the field!
So you process chillies? that must fuel the obsession somewhat?

Yeah Grimus just ask them if you could buy some off them, i would be pissed if someone took my peppers! The half pod is different, it was doomed!

yeah i would be too. i'd be gutted as if some chump went and stole mine... so i will do the right thing

I can just imagine my reaction if someone was in my yard picking pods...I don't think mad is a strong enough word...

I have a sign on my side gate to the yard...it simply says..."Forget the Dog, Beware of Owner"

sorry Grimus, I missed getting back to this thread.

Yes, I'm a salsa and hot sauce processor. The only peppers the farmers around here grow are the usual lame-o ancho, serrano, jalapeno, and once in a while I see some cayennes at the farmers market. Have yet to see a habanero grown locally. If that field was around here I'd be knocking on the door for sure!

I was going to ask a local farmer to grow some hotties for me, but decided to give it a go myself, so hopefully I'll have some fresh pods to play around with in a few months.

sounds like a great job!! I find that the peppers that i have grown myself from seed seem so much more rewarding than a seedling bought from a nursery. even for a person as impatient as me! Hope you have many pods grow :)

It's a side job, but a lot of fun!

:)

I am obsessed person as far as food, spices and hot peppers are concerned.
If I go to a new place, I research forehand about good eating places .
I make it a point to ask the chef if I like a recipe. I get worked up and go to an extent talking to the hotel boss/manager if a dish is not what it says on menu.
My family dreads when we visit any eatery and they warn me that I should not open my mouth even if anything is wrong.

I make it a point to visit grocery stores and first visit the spice corner and look for chilli peppers.
I have a library of about 100 books only on cookery in four languages. (I presented it to my daughter on her marriage)

I am obsessed and I love being that.

You sound like every head waitress's worst nightmare lol. But i have to agree with you on the grocery store part, i always go looking to see what is available, and am always disappointed with the same cayenne types. oh well, at least i can come here to see all the varieties under the sun :)

Generally in Indian eateries, there are no Indian waitresses (very rarely there are).
I am taking lotsa videos on my trip to India and show what India eats (only chilli peppers though)

I know the feeling, when I see pods it's difficult to stay away. I did that in Bali, saw some dry pods on an old plant at a diving centre, I couldn't resist. Now I have this lovely plant at home as a result of that:

It's called Liberty after the diving site we were on.

Nice looking plant mate, what type is it?
I think it's an annuum. I'm not sure since I took the seeds off an unknown plant. But most things points to annuum. And I just gave it a name =)

I stole a pepper 2 years ago form an old ladies house just to grow them......:) I was there visiting a buddy doing some work on her house. They were thais though with at least 100 peppers on there. if it was a bell or some type with like 5 peppers I wouldn't have.

Criminals...the lot of ya! :shh: I'll try to not let that dampen the funny images in my head of piss drunk people trying to hop a fence to get a few pods without hurting themselves! :drunk:

I lied to my wife yesterday that I was talking to the sales girl in a Mall (who happens to come from state that grows U-MOROK) about short tops for her jeans.
How clever of me?
But betcha I am damned obsessed
