How long does it take..?

The pods on this plant have been hanging around for weeks seemingly not changing except for maybe growing larger by 1/2". They are about 2.5-3" long now.
 
Will they ever ripen to another color, or will they just stay green..?

Seriously though...
They almost seem to take longer when checking on them daily/multiple times a day.
I find it far easier to recognize difference in growth as well as ripening when checking on them every few days.
The real fun is determining how long until peak ripeness  ;) when growing a new to you pepper.
time to hurry up and wait  :P

Mine usually take around 30 from the day I see a pod, until the day it is the eating color. 
First few pods on a plant may take longer than that, especially if it is a small plant.

  Was just concerned that something might be wrong since this is the first time growing Fatalii . Maybe something to do with the sFL humid/hot days and nites. Seems almost all my Chile plants have slowed way way down compared to last spring/winter when a plant would grow an inch every nite and pods would double in size over nite and ripen in a week or 2.
 
So,,, come on guys I know you're holding out on me,  I can keep a secret,, tell me the super secret 'Hot Pepper Forum nutrient that will ripen them up fast... :dance:  iirr solid7 has made comments but never revealed the secret, some type of salt spray or something... lol

From this point I would say less than 30.  30-60 is from fertilization.

Ok.  Fine.  
 
1 quart of battery acid, mixed with 1/8tsp epsom salt, with just a tad bit of Roundup.  Don't worry, all peppers are GMO and roundup ready.  Mix this with 1 gallon of water, and get it on both the leaves and soil.
 
If it doesn't work within 10 minutes or so, I like to do a motor oil soil drench. Emulsify the motor oil with Dawn lemon scent dish detergent.
 
If you can't find battery acid, just check your neighborhood for cars with doors left open.  Often, people leave the valet key in the owner's manual.  You can then crack the hood, and probably get at least 1 battery every 72 hours.  So add that to ripening time.

I got 1 for ya... Perfect for us in the middle summer slow grow season down here in the tropical humidity/heat/sun.
 
Get your Oxy-Acetylene torch out, or any tank of oxygen will do.   
A small tank is fine. Put on the largest tip you got, make sure the Acetylene tank is off.  Set the oxy regulator to about 40psi.
 
Now plunge the tip to the hilt close to the edge of the container and turn open the oxy valve for about 5 seconds. Repeat at 12 o'clock, 3, 6,9 . You're now ready to see the plant take off like never before. Do this weekly for the biggest tasty pods and healthiest plants.... Might need to water more often to help trap/absorb the oxygen... If you got a nitro tank you can alternate weekly between oxy and nitrogen.

Sage advice right there.  I tried this today .... but I didn't have all of the right ingredients.  I had already used up all of my Epsom salt trying to prevent BER ... so I used driveway ice melt.  I didn't have Dawn lemon scent dish detergent so I used Ultra Dishmate (something the wife had on hand .... it said all natural and shit on the bottle).  Not sure if this mix is gonna work.  What weight motor oil do you recommend? I had 5W30 and some 2 cycle stuff for my chain saw.  I made a 2/1 mix.  That Roundup sure is good stuff .... I got the grand-kids away from playing in it and was able to mix some up.  Problem is ..... I'm still going outside every 10 minutes to see if my peppers are turning.

Well, don't blame me if it takes 20 minutes longer.  If you had only listened, you'd be eating peppers in the time it takes to cook another batch of crystal meth.
 
On a serious note...
 
This is what happens when pods hang around a long time to get ripe... looks like it was just starting to turn and something got to it. Lucky its the only one thats damaged, so far.
 
This just happened, is a pest inside this pod eating it from the inside out, or is this a bacterial damage hole..?
 
Any idea what made the hole in my Fatalii pod...? And what to do to prevent more 'holes/damage..?

I would cut the pod open and look inside, to me it would no longer be any good anyway.
 
A critter ate a hole in that pod. I have lost more peppers to that kinda damage this year than ever before. Thankfully, I've also grown more peppers this year than ever before...

My top suspect is earwigs, but it could be something else... Definitely a decent-sized insect or similar arthropod
