I was served by slaves?

I live in a bubble.  I knew this stuff went on, but in no where viille Kentucky?  So my favorite Chinese buffet is in Frankfort, our capital city.  My favorite Chinese carry out is in Shelbyville, tiny little town.  Both got busted by the feds yesterday.  The charge?  Human trafficking / slavery.  So said my wife last night.

So today I go to google it:  I cant find last nights raids confirmed as for human trafficking just that it was a federal raid.  But I do find lots of other stories about other Chinese Buffets getting busted for human trafficking in Kentucky.  Evidently I have been served by slaves and it seems this is common.

Kind of blows my mind.

Happens a lot at Chinese buffets and other south asian owned nail salons. A place in my old town got busted a couple years ago. It's a big problem in the UK apparently too. People get trafficked in illegally, live in houses with the owners who have them work non stop for food and board and sometimes a low wage. I'd bet the girls who get trafficked in are sometimes relatives and do so willingly, however I'm sure some are brought against their will and are closer to actual slaves.

Did the buffet come with a happy ending?

Hoping it is a happy ending for the koi.  Seriously, when they raid a place what do they do with pets?  This is the buffet that made me want to do aquaponics.  They have a large indoor koi pond.  Great gimick.  You pay fifty cents for a tiny bit of food to feed them.  So they raise koi that wind up being worth thousands while making hundreds.

Anyway what happens to pets when a place is raided?  Some of those suckers were two feet or more long.

They probably find a rescue or something to take them. Or a local fish store.

Living assets are generally treated no different from inanimate assets in a federal case.  Seized and frozen (not literally) until the case goes to trial.  Animals are stored somewhere and tended to, in the event that the people are (A) found innocent or (B) incapable of paying fines that their property can be sold to help cover.

Still, you could call up your local FBI office like "Can I get some of those fish or have they been taken to fish jail as accessories?"    lol

Hmmm ad choices

They opened back up.  Now I dont know if I should eat there to show support for them and against a faulty justice system or not eat there figureing there was something to it.  I think I am going with innocent till proven guilty.

Is that like Turducken? The cat ate the rat.

Some years back I hunted a Chinese guy on a Family Court bench warrant (was an alimony) issue. It took a bit to finally catch him, but the story I discovered was remarkable. Ill try to condense it.
Dude comes to America. Learns English, becomes naturalized. Goes back to China per an arranged marriage deal, comes back with illegal alien bride. Hes a jealous dude, doesnt want anyone messing with his wife, so when he leaves for work, he locks her in the house (it had steel protector guard bars on the windows and doors, in this case not used to keep folks out but the opposite).
He takes her out on occasion and eventually she is tipped off by other Asian women that this kinda shit doesnt fly in America, which led to legal action that one of the Americanized women started on her behalf.

She gets freed figuratively and literally via divorce and is awarded alimony. How he escaped kidnapping charges I dont recall but assume it was a negotiated deal so the woman was assured some monies, rather than nothing if he were incarcerated. But, he didnt pay and the Warrant Man cometh. As, an aside, he was one of only two Asians Ive ever arrested.

Oh and I think the marriage was 2-3 years before divorce. Slave and captive.

Written on iPad, apparently there is an issue with quotation marks and apostrophes. I see errors but cannot correct them.
