IDENTIFY THIS!!! :)

Hey I was given these seeds called "Sorrento", but would like if someone was able to identify/classify it....
After the flowers pollinated, this little white pepper appeared:) and within a matter of days, no joke, it had grown full size.
It then remained like that for around a month no obvious change, then it began to take on these bright orange red stripes and is now, almost 8 weeks, a full angry red colour.
No colour transiton or at least minimal which I found unusual in my limited experience.
They are between 7-10cm long and kind of chunky.
And at this moment the plant is about 70cm tall.
I havent tasted them yet either.

**I germinated 2 "Sorrento" seeds and the other one is completely different, smaller plant, lighter colour foliage, smaller peppers, transition from white-purple-and as of yetI dont know...**

Anyone have any idea what kind of chilli pepper this could be....

Thanks,

Rory

The leaves, color, and upright pods scream hot Hungarian wax.... But the pod shape is off. I'm thinking you have some cross of sorts - what kind, I don't know?

This is my HHWAX, which ripen to red as well. Leaves, color, and pod position all fit... But yours are most definitely differing. I'm not up to speed on my botany term either, but the part where the stem attaches to the pepper on yours resembles more of a cayenne appearance too. Whatever it is, it's growing well!

This is the calyx, right? If so, its HUGE!!

Fusilli pasta for scale?!

It dissected like this...

Tasted like a spicy green bell pepper, its is the least spicy of the other two types I have so far tasted in my garden, Acapulco (Cap. Annuum), Apache (Cap. Annuum).

It s probably just a cross of some sort, its buggingme because other plant of the same seed, whilst has some similiarites, is not the same Lol.

Yeah it's probably a cross, it doesn't really look like anything I can ID right off the bat, not with those large upright peppers like that.

Question, is your strain of Apache stable or was it labeled as a hybrid?  This is unrelated to the thread.

Just labeled as Apache, it has appeared to grow true though. I can upload a photo if you like?

That is a run-of-the-mill C.annuum. There is very little diversity with annuums so it is hard to I.D. this without having some kind of a lead. Go through all the seeds you planted and look for something similar,it might have been mislabled. Look at where you received the seeds from (trade or purchase)and see if they grew something similar, or if that vendor sells something similar. In the meantime, enjoy eating them.

P.S. There is an I.D. section below this one that is specifically for these situations.
