Trade seeds or cuttings
To send cuttings through mail in cold climates try using the sawdust hand warmer packets.
Cut a tiny hole it in to slowly release the heat over a longer period of time.
Wrap cutting in plastic bag with small holes and wrap with paper.
USPS have free priority mail boxes. Shipping is $4.60 1-4 day anywhere in the continental US.

Hey Nute...chill dude.......as Potawie said, he was just trying to be nice and let you know that maybe, we are not as advanced as you are..yet. Or just maybe we like to do it the old fashioned way. To me watching the seed pop that little hook and grow while we nurture it like a baby is absolutely phoenomenal. Either way is not wrong so just sit back, read the posts, post your posts (which I find interesting...was gonna offer a 12-14 inch high little elf plant for a peach hab cutting), and generally have a good time.

There was not enough interest at first and not just concerns but posts why people do not want to take part.
Some people who think everything is impossible etc... Guess they will always be around.
I will ignore all posts from now on that to not try to facilitate the thread.
Thanks for thinking about trading seeds and cuttings!

There was interest, at least on my part; but I found your very abrupt prose style and your snub of Potawie to be more than a little off putting. Perhaps if you started over again and were a little more willing to be patient with people's concerns and questions, you'd get better responses.

?! wow dude ...just be cool man ...I think this is a very bad way to join thp ...start by introduce your self and read the forum rule

POTAWIE....is that you?

If I have seeds that someone needs, I'll gladly share them even if they don't have any to share. More than likely, some people would do the same with cuttings. But there would be concerns, such as shipping in the dead of winter or summer when the cuttings would likely be DOA.

Besides, with the prowess some of these people here have growing peppers, they could probably reap peppers from seeds within a week or so of the time one would using a cutting.

Cuttings (clones) are a very good way to eliminate about 30-50 days of growing time for chiles.

They are not that hard to ship but won't make it out of USA because postal dudes on the other end find them too easily and throw 'em out.

First post edited to show shipping options for sending cuttings.
For seeds usual shipping methods are fine.

If you have seeds you are willing to share please list a few you think would be great for Salsa. They do not need to be hot necessarily just make Salsa taste better too.

Anyone else has a preference for a seed type to try out post it.

Which are some of the fastest growing prolific compact pepper plants that taste good in Salsa?

Nute:

I don't have anything growing right now that is big enough to get a cutting off of...but in about 3-6 months I will have more than enough...check out my grow list in my 2008 inventory blog and you can get an idea of what I am growing...

I prefer the orange hab for salsa. It is definitely hot.I also have Jim's hot sweet, great in salsa.
I have :
Orange hab
Extra hot jalapeno
Jim's Hot Sweet
Vietnamese mini (delicious little pods)

I would be happy to trade seeds for a cutting, or whatever works for you. If you have Bhut or Fatali, I am interested, or I am happy to take whatever you have tried and like yourself.

P.S. I am willing to overlook the earlier mis-understanding. Posts have the same problem that E-mails do. You don't hear the person's tone. For what it is worth Potawie is, if anything, very willing to help and very reasonable. I agree let's all start over.

when my plants are no longer babies i'd certainly be inclined to send some cuttings. not sure if they'll make it to the US tho, so maybe just my canadian brethren will benefit.

International

For starters we could keep cuttings domestic and leave seeds international.
Seeds are easy to get and we want to support the seed sites.

For cutting I am thinking of certain situations where you would not get peppers in time because of the season so getting a cutting would let you enjoy that type with your other peppers.

My Nagas are from UShotstuff.com
One person could end up with cuttings and or seeds from many peoples different Nagas who happens to have a nice outdoor area to plant many. They could pick the best and send out seeds or cuttings.

The peach habs are doing better than expected so I can try to send some rooted cuttings.

It would be neat if we had a $1 per pepper standard or something where we ship to each other peppers priority mail to try out.
With 1600+ types I would be happy to send a few bucks out to get a few fresh peppers back to try vs. planting them.
Receving a pepper and even a rooted cutting in the mail would be very fun!

It does not have to be a homegrown pepper. I do not see anywhere here to get Scotch Bonnet and in the Salsa thread there is some good word for it. So it would be nice to have one mailed even at $5 with shipping because that is less trouble than trying to plant 1600 and pick the best for salsa :)

Agreed, but isn't it dangerous to take a cutting from an overwintering plant? I wouldn't mind seeing the vids if they give a tutorial on cutting!
