Is It True?

Is it true that only the seeds are affected by cross pollination and the parent plant will produce the propper peppers as long as it's alive?

I know I have to get new seeds for next year rather than saving seeds cause all my peppers plants are close together but I plan to keep a few over the winter, will these plants still produce the proper fruit?

Thanks, I know I asked that question two different ways :D

Yes, your plant will produce peppers true to its type. If they have been cross polinated your pepper seeds will show the cross when grown. You may want to consider cloning your plant as well as a method of propagation.

you may try to get your plant to pollinate itself
i have been bagging some small sections of mine while the flowers are forming
with some mesh bags and keeping those pesky bees from bringing stray pollen in

the chilis can and will cooperate and you get a good chance for pure 'true breeding' seeds
i think you can do it this way because i am doing it

Thanks for the great info, I want new seeds for next year but I may bag a few just for seeds once they grow.
