jcw10tc you sent me a couple of bonus peppers with my order, one was the nagabrains which I'm pretty excited about especially for size and production as stated on your site. But the other was the Orange Primo x BOC which sounds cool, just wandering if you have any pics or a description as I couldn't find it on your site (or anywhere on the Internet)?

Yeah, I been working so much lately. I haven't had time to prep my plot. I have the worst stickiest clay untillable soil in Illnois in my yard. So I dig out a hole and fill with a mix. I finally got the holes dug, and about 50 filled. Need to fill the rest then cover with some plastic to kill off the grass and use for mulch. I had to move the garden over this year so it was basically yard. Might be interesting to see if they do any good, as now they are closer to trees also. But yeah, once I get them planted will be a relief.

Orange Primo x BOC was an f1 last year so this is only second year for it. It was a decent pepper, but I have to admit probably not as great as you would think from the parents. To me it reminded me of a caribbean red or some other really hot habenero but falling short of a superhot. I will try to dig up some pics, but failed miserably last year at getting pics of everything. You would think orange but they ripened to red. Had 3 different shapes for each wave of pods. First 3 pods looked like habaneros. Next 10 or so looks more like a bhut or something, long and bumpy. Then the last set of pods all looked kinda like a habanero but with a stinger any scorpion would have been proud to have. Its not bad and definitly not stabilized, I wonder given its parents if something even better might pop up in the future grows of it.

Thanks for the kind words about the website. Have to see how long I take it, hopefully it will last a while until something comes up I guess.

Yeah, looking forward to all those BBGs. All that I tried last year were great. No floral or bitter in any of them. Normally I don't like a lot of the red and choco supers if they get that floral bitterness to them, but the BBGs are just smooth heat to me.

If I actually grow all that I have listed, I have no idea how I can even try them all in the few months of picking. Figure all the ones I have had before will just have to be processed for seeds and powdered or frozen. Need to update that list, it has changed a bit, had a few failures and few replacements.

Now I remember. I didn't actually grow it out, got the seeds originally from Wicked Mike as shown on that label. Would like to see what it does for you. I went through a few phases in my thinking last year. I must have sent this in one of my cleaning house giveaways. When season first ended or even before last year I was thinking, I am only going to grow things I am certain I will like. And since the 2 parents of those are not peppers I would choose personally, I probably got rid of it. Now that my thinking has shifted into possibly selling some seeds in the future, I am more interested in it. Even though red bhuts aren't my favorite hopefully it will tone down the moruga some. I don't know how anyone could like the red moruga, its one of the worst peppers for me, just don't like the taste of them at all. Yet the yellow moruga is my all time favorite still. Good luck with them, keep us posted how they turn out. I actually haven't heard much about that one, not sure if I have seen anyone grow it.

I will show you the results and of course I will send seeds if you like.
I have many interesting varieties from you but I sowed only this and Tepin x Lemon Drop because I have a lot of Pubescens.
I choose to grow this cross because they are from 2014 and I don't want to become too old.
I will keep both plants .
Do you know what generation is ?

Had to move the main pepper patch over and build a fence this year. Loosing so of my highest producing area and now have a lot of unknown being farther out in the yard and closer to some big trees.

Heres the big trees and my neighbors unkept property in the background.

Got it all covered to kill the grass, keep the weeds away and keep the moisture in, now just need to weather and time to plant.

So one day later I assume squirrels are wanting to dig in my mix filled holes so bad they are poking holes in the plastic already. I would think coons possibly but the damage is small so probably squirrels this time.

But what the hell decided to attach my watering want for no reason? There was plenty of puddles on top of the plastic to drink from so shouldn't have been after any water in it.

I love that area. I think the soil by the trees is going to be great. Nice topsoil, after all those years of leaves falling and composting. Should do well. Can't wait to see. Good luck

Looking good man. We have a big problem here with skunks digging everything up. I have to have a fence around my garden basically just for them, well and the dear. If there is anything at all in the soil that smells good like worms,grubs etc the skunks dig it up like a mofo. If I water with fish/seaweed emulsion you can see them all lined up at night trying to get into my patch..lol

The new area looks great! Plenty of room. I hope you have better luck than me this year regarding the "natives"!

As for clay, it seems you know how to deal with it. Every year will make the soil better. Much easier to recon than sand...LOL :shh:

Thanks, I'll finish the fence after planting. No use having a fence around nothing, so did the parts toward the road, gate and back in a few weeks. Maybe someday some raised beds in there or something to fix the soil.

Wish i was so fortunate, I have no topsoil on my property, only yellow sticky nasty clay. For now the holes with mix work. I really don't know if I want to put too much effort into this as hoping to not be in this house in 5 or 10 years, too much to take care of here. The other yardwork is a good 6+ hours a week, + all the other maintenance projects and aging things.

Skunks I don't need. Of all thet pests possible I suppose thats the one thing I have never seen at my house and I really don't know why. I live on the edge of a pretty big patch of woods. I have had every other wild animal Illinois has to offer in my yard at one point or another, sometimes over 20 deer at one time, but no skunks. Pretty sure the small holes were from the squirrels, they sure like to dig in peat mix. I'll probably have some walnut trees sprout up next to a pepper this year, which sucks as they are toxic and already have ruined the back edge of my property from ever growing peppers. Last year coons attacked and tore plants out of the ground the night after planting and tipped over half my pots. Its a never ending battle.

I have lived here 9 years now, and the war against the natives has never stopped. I don't think I am winning overall but have the upper hand on a few fronts. The chipmunk numbers are greatly reduced, but still not gone. But the moles keep coming in from the park behind me. I need to do some grub control probably but yard is so damn big don't want to spend the money on it. Squirrels and raccoons are everywhere. I have a Ruger pellet rifle that will stop them all. Don't use it often, pretty loud and looks like a real rifle from a distance as its so big and has a big scope on it. Have had the police called on me once by people in the park.

And yeah the clay, doing what I can. I figure some time if I can keep the same spot now inside the fence withing a few years of digging holes should have enough mix and peat in there to think about ammending and tilling, that is if I don't do raised beds. Hard to commit to either when plan is to be moved in 5 or 10 years to a smaller house.

Great plot Justin hopefully the fence will keep the majority of critters out ... search lights at each corner covered by your Ruger might help ... and all I have to worry about is my two year old grandson and the window cleaners ladder ...

Unfortunately that fence isn't going to keep anything out even when complete. Squirrels can go right through it and racoons can climb anything and will for very little reason. The fence was put in more for visual decoration and to mask the unsightly view of the peppers. Apparently all people don't think they look as good as us pepperheads do. But what it has done is now I own a piece of my own property finally sort of. I can pretty much put what I want in there. After this season the one plot on the side of it will turn back into yard, and the one behind the fence will remain somewhat. I wanted to be sure to put a few peppers back into the old areas where I know I have had success. Still concerned about the effect all the tree roots under about half of that fenced area is going to have. I suspect I will see smaller plants as they will be competing with those trees for nutrients and water.

Not to mention pulling saplings every spring. I don't even have any trees (or neighbors) other than the smaller river birches I planted and I had a ton of saplings to pull in my raised beds.
