This week I've started to prepare the raised beds,
I add dynamic lifter pellets and 90% blood & bone and give a good watering in
I'll check the ph in a few days then add a few other bits and pieces....

Super healthy looking plants JR!

Can I pick your brains? I can't get a seedling starter mix here in Thailand. After re reading your thread I was wondering, do you think a 10 parts coco, 10 parts worm castings and 5 part rice hulls would work? I was also wondering do you go straight from germination trays to 5" pots or is there a step in between?

Cheers.

I and a lot of other folks around here use coco coir by itself as a seed starting mix. You might add one or two parts of the worm castings to give the seedlings something to snack on but nothing else is necessary. Hope you don't mind me answering this Grant.

Cheers Patrick, but I already germinate in coco by itself. It's the next stage I need help with after they have a true set of leaves and need some feeding.

Hi Ezzer,
I'd go with the 10 parts coco, 10 parts worm castings 5 parts rice hulls and perhaps some clean sand or fine river pebbles to help with drainage
Have you tried going to Chatachak Weekend market? there used to be a few orchid sellers and other growers out that way, they had good soil mixes etc....

Just the straight mix or do you add anything to the yates professional potting mix?

Hi Pablo,
I use the yates professional say 10 parts with 3 parts coco and 2 parts perlite

As far as I'm aware, there isn't too much difference between potting mix and seed raising mix except for the coarseness of the mix. Potting mix might have extended release nutes that seed raising mix might not but depends on who makes it I guess.
You could try sifting your putting mix with a sieve size of your preference.

Edit: Also, I don't use seed raising mix, I am pretty rough with my seedlings as I don't like to baby them - weeds out the weak ones. In saying that, I still get a good germination rate (90-100%), it's just not my preferred method. If I need more plants I clone, much easier plus you don't have to worry if your seeds were cross pollinated.
