KAOS Glog - 2017

Welcome to the KAOS Glog 2017

I wasn’t going to do one this year, but thought what the hell. Some of my intrepid journey may be of interest to someone or at the very least a bit of entertainment for the Northern Hemisphere Chilliheads.

Since I’m playing a bit of catchup (started in April really) here is a quick summary of proceeding through to today.
NZ Season 2016 was dismal to say the least with a very short cold summer and it didn’t help starting late either.

Apologies for the image heavy first post

Some of 2016’s last pods

I decided 2017 was going to be a different and this would be a challenge against the winter elements.

Bring on the indoor grow brigade – 900mm x 400mm grow cabinet with grow LED

Now unfortunately being the gadget addict that I am I had to start experimenting with lights. The next photo is a humble cayenne that became the lab rat (aka Tarbal) over the next couple of months.

Remember Tarbal for later …

Once I’d proven (to myself anyway) that the LED thing actually worked I decided to soldier on with some actual proper peppers

A selection of Superhots – Ghost/Choc Bhut/Reaper…etc

Back to Tarbal now and roll on some 53 days from previous photo

My grow process is nothing new.
KNO3 for 24hrs
Coffee filter in Jiffy Bag until sprouting – Heatpad and mini greenhouse
Into Rockwool with a dab of soil - Heatpad and mini greenhouse
Wait until liftoff and into pots when first set of leaves are established

This was the start of the true growing period – Upgraded to 1.2m x 1.2m tent

Sideline to the grow this year is the Amarillo Growdown and here are some progress shots

Just could not put a 'like' on that last pic, Jarrod.  Bummer, all right   :mope:

Hate wind.

Were the peppers you lost blown over or crushed?  Blow overs can
come back if the lee side roots are intact.  Happened with one of my
Padrones last season.  Cut off all the pods, staked it, and it had time
to become a very productive plant again.

Otherwise, everything rollin' right along in your grow - beautiful images,
especially the flower shots.

Yeah, I liked that post instinctively. I hope all is well.

The main reason I built the 6' fence on the North and East sides of my garden. We get some serious winds when Ma Nature gets made at Tejas

Thanks Paul. I am actually impressed with the photos from the iPhone. Some good apps for getting that shot in.

All is well. It wasn't the tree landing on the peppers that was the problem. It was the sheer strength of the wind, but at least it only lasted about 30min.

Thankfully didn't loose any plants, but did have to collect some pods that were ripped clean off.

Time for a Fortnightly Update.

Been super humid and hot here so good growth all around.

Thanks for stopping by and sorry for all the pics. It's a good visual diary for me so that I will know how far behind I am in next seasons grow :P

Sorry for the pics!?!?!?!

NEVER be sorry for photos that great!

All is looking fantastic, although that tree falling is a real bummer, hope the damage wasn't too severe.

great pod pics - any idea what that Mystery Super Hot might be? And those Ebony Fire's are right on point - I was kind of expecting a bit of variation as I thought that they may have been an F1 cross, making these f2. I'll have to grow it again next season, pods aren't anthing special flvour-wise, but are quite sweet. Mild- almost medium heat. But I should let you figure that out for your self!

Anyway, keep up the great work - and keep them pics rolling! :onfire:

All The Best, TBG.

Cracking Reaper ... that's an impressive tail
Thanks TBG. Its part of the fun for the future looking over old glogs.

Thanks Trident. I cant wait for that to ripen up fully. Definitely going to keep the seeds from that pod.

Bring in the pain.
