LAND OF THE GIANTS 2017 - Biggest Bonnet Competition

Just under 14cm, weight is around 24g. I measured this over and over on my scale...unfortunately I don't have a digital scale but I'm borrowing one in a few days.

I'll reweigh with the digital.

Hey Rick, shouldn't that measurement be closer to 15 cm?
Looks like you measured to the end of the tape rather than
the beginning of the scale.

Just looking out for the home team!

You're right Paul... I was measuring from the end of the aglet, not the beginning measurement mark. Oops...

That's what comes of being used to my carpenter's tape measure and borrowing my wife's seamstress tape. The correct measurement should have been 15cm plus 18g = score of 33.0

Woah, Rick, you are kicking my heinie

Gonna raise my score a little:

17.5 gr

4.5 inches x 2.54 cm/inch = 10.67 cm

New score = 28.17

Bigger, fatter pods still to come if they ripen up.
Some nice phenotypes as well. Pod shapes
range from long and skinny to bumpy and round,
but it looks like there will be a few nice A+ pods
for seeds

Cheers to everyone on both sides of the pond!

First small picking from my plant, the biggest will be my entry for now.  I have a couple of bigger pods on the plant, but don't think I'll get anywhere near some of the beauties you guys are producing now!  I can only dream of what might have been had I not mixed up my plants and given this one special treatment.

I'll be updating the leaderboard again soon... noting the flurry of fantastic entries above - great work gentlemen!

Just been in the polytunnel and noticed a big bonnet pod on my competition plant, I feed it but rarely took notice as I was not going to enter, but it looked a good size bonnet. So let's have a test.

17.3 cm around = 39.3 .

That's going to be a seed pod. [emoji41] [emoji6]

Good job Simmie, you've got me beat!

It looks like my final entry will be the Aug 30th post Dennis. The weather here is cooling off and the rest will be smaller.

Great effort from everybody on both sides of the pond. [emoji106]
