Leaf curl

Hi everyone. I am getting alot of leaf curl and some wilting. The appear to be nice and green. I have been watering once a day in the mornings. I was worried that I was over watering them. any ideas what this could be?

I can get pics uploaded tonight.

Thanks

Barry

Hi Barry,

Several reason why leaves curl, lack of certain nutrients, over fertilizing, and even certain bugs. The pics will help a lot in figuring out why. Best of luck to you.

I noticed aphids can cause this they attack the new leaves this causes distortions as they grow. if you notice ants patrolling your plants in greater numbers be vigilant ants love aphids.

I agree with romy. My plants looked like that when we got too much rain, I only water when the soil looks totally dry on top, I don't drench them either. Your plants look good tho! I've seen over/under fertilizing problems with plants and they don't look like that.. Try lettin em dry out a bit. Good luck to ya!

It looks like over watering to me. The plants look fairley healthy too me! What kind of nutrients have you been giving them and how often do you water them?

I was watering them morning and evening then I was just watering them in the moring. I feed the Botanicare pro bloom.

My first mistake was not putting enough pearlite or Coco coir in the potting mix to allow good oxygen availability to the roots. Then I was over watering which only made the problem worse. Luckily I didn't blast them with fert to try and fix the problem. After I took the plants out of the black plastic pots and broke the original crappy potting mix away from the roots and repotted with a coc coir, pearlite, and potting soil mix they seem to be doing much better. My one friend told me don't water them until they look like they are getting stressed a little. I'm a newbie, but the saying you'll see on here time and again,"less is more" really seems to be fitting for growing chiles. Good luck!

Sometimes I think the roots just get too hot when using containers. I had lots of leaf curl this year and I don't think it was a nutrient or watering problem. I'm thinking the plants will straighten themselves out as the weather cools. The few plants I had in a raised bed weren't affected.
