vendor Legit seeds online vendors

Hello,

I'm new to the world of (trying to) growing peppers. As most know, in most cases you just can't run out to your local nursery and pick up some of the more hot pepper seeds. Carolina Reaper, Chocolate Bhutlah, Trindad Moruga, etc.

My question is this: is there a one stop online shop for, what some may call stupit hot seeds?

I ask this because I ordered from an online site, and was pretty much screwed out of my $60+. I won't list the name because I don't want to bash the company, and don't want to start a flame post or what have you. I was sent a tracking number, but the package never left the pre shipment stage. I contacted the company (on facebook as they never contacted me back when I sent them an email through their contact us page) and was asked to wait a few more days that the label may not have been able to scan correctly. I agreed to wait until the end of the week. Never received them. I contacted them again, again through FB and they never responded back. This all happened last month. It really sucks because I would have liked to try my hand at growing some super hot seeds, since, like I said, you can't just go buy them. At least that is the case in my small home town in Virginia.

I did order from pepperjoe.com and received my seeds with no problems, but some folks are saying that their seeds aren't 100% legit. Not sure if they have tried their hand at making hot peppers, or what that may mean. Again, as far as treatment. Pepper Joe has to be given 5 stars. They responded to my emails and received my seeds in a short amount of time.

I really would like to find an online store that has 100% legit hot seeds. I'm willing to even shop around on a few sites, but I don't want to get burnt again.

Thanks, and sorry for the long post,

Terry

Welcome to The Hot Pepper. Too bad you've had this bad experience. And to make things worse, it's pretty much too late to do anything with superhots this late in the season, assuming you are growing outdoors.

By the way watchdog, I like your watchcat.

If you check the Vendor Vault here you will find plenty of reliable seed vendors. But here are a few that I have had good results with, to get you started. They are all members here as well. In alphabetical order:

Buckeye: https://www.buckeyepepper.com/

Midwest Chileheads: http://merch01.siteprotect.com/midwestchileheads.com/

Pepperlover: http://pepperlover.com/

Whitehotpeppers: https://www.whitehotpeppers.com/

IMO, any of these are a good choice. I use all of them, rather than looking for a "one stop shop" vendor, as each one offers some varieties that the others do not.

Please post a review of the vendor in the vendor vault so that others may know the issues you had.  It helps the community as a whole.

Ok, thanks. Wasn't sure if I would get into trouble.

Yeah, I was going to try to grow some inside, but, seems like a lot of hassle.

Great post.  I've ordered from Buckeye, MWCH and Pepperlover for several years with zero trouble and great customer service.  Have also had good luck with Ford's Fiery Foods.

So, my experience the last couple years with nursery super hots is poor. They did germinate the seeds but they did not produce the plants the seeds came from. The seeds were from another source.
Same issue with plants from grocery stores and Walmart and Lowe's type stores.
This is why I started trading seeds with other growers.
I can agree that www.whitehotpeppers.com is a good source for healthy seeds. Good germination, communication and fast shipping. First year using his product.
You can always start some seeds inside this year, move them outside once they are big enough and then bring them in for late year harvesting. You could then keep the plants going all winter or learn about overwintering.

You can still enjoy the growing season.

Hey everyone, thanks for the links, I just ordered some seeds from Justin to try and grow some peppers indoors because I am late to the party.

I too am from Wisconsin and the weather here is just too unpredictable. Last year I got some small "ghost" plants from a local nursery and they produced in my garden, but as a novice, I wasn't quite sure what I was getting (or looking at), but it sure caught my interest in peppers which lead me to here.

The information here is terrific, thanks!

Pepperjoe new management?  Whaaaaaaaaaa?!

Yes, millworkman.  Pepper Joe retired about a year ago.  Glad to be a part of thehotpepper fabulous community.  We have so loved the support and friendliness we have received from folks here.   THP is a really special place.  You can DM me directly too.  Take care.

Thanks for the shout out, BlackFatalii, but please be advised that Midwest Chileheads site has moved to Midwest Chileheads.
