first jalapeno and first cherry tomatoes from this years grow along with buttercrunch lettuce we`ve been picking for a month and a half. the salad also has iceberg, onion, red cabbage, radish, cucumber, store bought tomato, some black beans, deli ham, shredded mozz, croutons and olive oil and vinegar.
All that looks great and it's always better from the yard but----Where's the protein?

Okay, so I was at an Herb Fair a few weeks back and there was a vendor selling specialty olive oils and vinegars. The Meyer Lemon extra virgin olive oil caught my eye and I picked up a small bottle of it. Today's lunch is baby greens, including arugula and lettuce from the garden, along with toasted sliced almonds, strawberries, blackberries and kiwi leftover from the sangria we were drinking during Wednesday night's poker, topped with goat cheese, roasted red beets and a Meyer lemon chive blossom vinegar vinaigrette. Really, REALLY good! Pretty, too!
