Look at what Shu he rates the Douglah lol

They are very hot. I had some last weekend. I would say hotter than what he's saying. Just my guess on peppers i have tried. Should have some more Douglahs showing up tomorrow. Jim Duffy said that he had his tested and they were coming in between 1.5 million to 1.8 million. Would really like to know for sure because they are one of the hottest peppers i have ever tried. I can't remember where i read that about Jim.

It was surely the hottest pepper I have ever tried. Those ratings sound about right to me. Anywhere in the 1 mil scoville unit range is hot as hell.

I think people start to get lost in the record numbers and don't realize how much heat 1 million scoville units brings.

The ButchT is the hottest in the Guinness World Records. I may be talking out of turn, but I hear that before a new species of chilli can be submitted into the Guinness Book of Records, the species/strain of chilli has to be stable. Hence, I am led to believe the Moruga has been tested as being hotter but has not been entered into the Guiness Book of Records. Totally aside from this factor, is the fact that SHU can vary vastly depending on growing conditions.

I have just done a back to back taste test of the ButchT, Douglah and Moruga as it happens (taste test videos on my blog)... and while I am no expert, I will say in my opinion that the ButchT was trumps in the heat department. The Moruga I tried did not come close. But then again the Moruga I tried may not have been grown in optimal conditions. The Douglah was in my opinion, hotter than the standard 7Pot I tried about a month or so ago. But anything over a million is insanely hot...

I have eaten several of both the Butch T and the Douglah now. I cannot honestly dicern which one is hotter by taste alone. I will say that the Butch T puts me, literally, on the floor everytime. The Douglah is just as hot but when I eat it I don't feel like someone just kicked me in the face.

I really hope the Douglah wins the record at some point, it has become one of my favorite to eat.

When it comes to heat, the ButchT was the ticket for me. Scorpions under the tongue, ear drum vibrating involentarily... insane stuff. Did not score high on the taste side of things IMO. I have to agree, the Douglah is incredibly hot, but there's more flavour.

that's a pretty good list....I would like to see how many of the sauces that are above the heat of a habanero are made with extracts that use ketones in the extraction process...

and my put on the different 7 pots...all a variation on a theme, just like the different scorpions...

Just curious... does anyone know who CERTIFIED the Moruga the "world's hottest?" I'm not saying it's not, but like PeriPeri said, Guinness still has the BT as #1. Everything I read says "As of 2/12, the MS is the hottest." Says who?

I thought it was the New Mexico State University who came up with the test results. I undertsand from what has been said, that the Moruga has been submitted into The Guinness World Records. As for when/if the Moruga will be crowned "The World's Hottest"... only Guinness can confirm that for sure... and until it's printed in their book, I suppose it's just hearsay?

And then there's the wispers of a HP22B B3 pod... lol... sounds like the number on a vehicles licence plate. Seriously? The guys are scrapping so furiously about the world title this is the best name they can come up with? If that one is anything like the ButchT my lips would be so numb I'd spit most of my mouths contents trying to pronounce HP22B B3...

He's smart to not give it a name until fully stable. Best to name it what it is, even if its a code. Better than making up fancy marketing names
CARDI tested the douglahs several years ago and they came up just under 1 mil SHU. What I can't understand is how the chocolate 7 pot/pod is higher than the douglah, when the 7 pot/pod that was tested by Jim Duffy was actually a douglah and was second only to the TSMB

And CArolina Reaper sounds awesome... have done some reading on the HP22B and I do agree... Ed Currie looks like hes got his ducks in a solid row!

On the list for reaper seeds, and have a plethora of supers on the grow list for January.

But I fear they may all be old hat by harvest next summer.

Have a douglah, butch and TS moruga sprouted in the hydro, not sure of the pod production capacity yet as this is my first time hydro.

To me the 7 pod Brown(true brown) is the hottest. Have had all the others and the 7 pod Brown has been the hottest.(throat burn lasted 25min)
That damn thing destoryed me.
