Maligator's Grow Log

Well, I figured I should probably begin an online growlog. I have been keeping a personal grow log in MS Word but it's time to share my adventure with those of you that have helped make it an easier task.
I would also like to thank those of you that have been so keen to answer questions and help out someone who is trying this for the first year! I planted my first seeds on 13 Mar 2010. Here are a few photos I have taken since then:

Wow nice going,What kind of tent do you have? And the cfl the 27w ones??

This is the tent I bought: http://www.amazon.co...69507302&sr=8-1 I thought it was a pretty good price for what I got. Worked for me ;)

I posted more info in another post under the "grow tech" forum as well as a detailed description of the set up with pics earlier in this post. I just can't wait for the weather to break over here so I can leave the plants outside from then on.

I'll watch for pics. and Mali, if you loose your "prized babies" and you happen to be in my neighborhood, I'll share with you.

Aww...your a sweetheart ;) Funny thing is that I only have 2 of each of those types but have like 24 Bhuts and a bunch of peter peppers. I ordered some seeds from THSC for nexts years go around but just don't feel like trying to start this late in the season for another shot. I'll let ya know how it all shakes out. Thanks again for the generous offer. :woohoo:

I have about a dozen fataliis I've been bogarting. Been giving away bhuts, peters, habs and a few Mystery peppers ....but not parting with the fataliis. If you need a couple, I'll (sniff....sniff) part with them for you!

And my scorps are another story...
When soaking the seeds, the containers bumped against each other, so the trini scorps and 7 Pods got all mixed up, so I am happy to share some scorps but they may not be a scorp..........??????????

LOL! Anyway, the offer is there for a WA neighbor. Has the weather dried out over there yet?!? We are FINALLY getting a couple days of sunshine~

Well...if you can believe it...it's actually sunny right now and BY GOD it's supposed to be sunny the WHOLE WEEKEND!

What ever shall I do with myself? Thanks again Salsa Lady. I may have to take you up on your offer just so that I could drop by and try out some of your salsa...for quality control purposes of course ;)

Well..I can tell you that Salsa Lady is a very generous and wonderful person. She read about my plight and offered to donate a couple peppers to me since I killed the only Fataliis and Scorps I had. So after some PMs back and forth, details ironed out I got to meet her as well as check out her salsa operation.

Let me preface this by saying that she is 205 miles (ONE WAY) away from where I live, so I guess some might think I'm a nut but I really enjoyed meeting her and besides...she hooked me up with a sampling of her salsa and a couple sauces. I gotta tell ya boys and girls, this is the first salsa that I've eaten by dipping the chips and not scooping out mounds or drinking it. She put alot of extra Bhut powder in it for me...YUMMY!! It's very good salsa. She hooked me up with some Red Savinas, Scorp / 7 pot (suprise peppers..not sure which ... seeds got mixed)a peruvian white hab and an Aji Amarillo. I in return brought her some Aji Escabeche seeds and a couple bottles of red wine. I'll post pics in the next couple days. I already potted them all up but its been a long day!

Salsa Lady is a true lady and I just wanted to thank her publicly as well as let everyone know how cool she is!

Pepper people are some of the best for sure.

Bummer about the aphid/soap issues gatorman, my condolences. Live and learn man we all go through bumps. Best of luck to you with the rest of them.

you scored some cool stuff! there's some great generosity around here. Plus, that means more great pics coming for us to enjoy as well.

Thank you Maligator, and I'd like to add that I really enjoyed meeting Maligator in person. Great guy and serious chilehead!

What he didn't tell you was that he left his home at 5:00 AM to get over to our place early, because we had an appointment with a client later in the morning. Now THAT's a serious chilehead!

I'm glad the last few plants went to a "good home" and I think we're going to try to start a couple of the aji escabeche seeds now and overwinter them. And the wine was delightful! I just hope that tub of "custom salsa" doesn't get too hot over the next few days! YIKES!

I'll be keeping an eye out to see how they do for you, I hope they grow well!

Thanks again~
SL

Ok ok...Took me a little longer than usual to post updated pics but the weather has been bad. Plants are in the front yard as I still have the goats in the back yard. What can I say...they kind of grow on you.

As you can see...some of the plants are still fairly leafless but they are trying to make a comeback. I did lose about 8 or 9 plants due to the soap mishap. Learning experience huh? I'm seeing really nice regrowth on the plants that pulled through. Lots of smaller leaves. I can see buds forming on some of the plants now. Pretty excited.

Ok...so here are a few new pics of the peps.

1st one is a mystery pepper from SL and my trip across the mountain range.

2nd Pic here is of Peruvian White Hab

3rd and 4th pics are just some of them sitting together. They aren't as super looking as those of you south of the mason dixon line but hey...what ca I say. 1st year here ;)

Looks like it's gonna be a really LOOOOOOONG growing season for me  It's ok...I'm pretty tenacious.

Gatorman after all you've been through I applaud your enthusiasm and tenacity. But, no offense, some of them peppers are looking kind of sad. The new growth looks good but are you going to have time for them to grow and produce before your weather turns cold?

If mine come through I'll be happy to share with you bro.

No worries Patrick...it's all good. I know they look a bit sad...I'm not giving up! I'm hoping to get at least one harvest from them. I just ate the Bulgarian Carrot with my steak dinner tonight. Yummy. It's a live and learn year since it's my first year. I'll not make the same mistakes. This will forever be know as the "great soap incident of 2010" to me
Already have a game plan for next year: New strategy = try to NOT SCREW UP! I appreciate the offer about the possibility of sharing. I have great germination and growth inside of the house, now I just have to translate that to an outside transition. Gotta work on my soil mixes as well I think. I still plan on chronicaling my exploits be they good or bad. Good way to track and keep myself in check. Besides...if someone reads my log and says "damn I better not do that" then I will have helped someone and that is also part of this: To help each other by learning from others mistakes. So I trudge along trying to make the best of this situation I find myslef in! :violin:

That's the attitude Maligator... onward and upward. I hope you still get more than just experience from your plants. How long will your growing season last?

To be honest...I have no idea... this is my first year growing anything in Washington and I am a transplant from Michigan. About 2342 miles or 3769 KM travel! Big diference in climate and seasons. So I'm kind of winging it this year!
