Marino's 2012 Grow Log

Hi everybody!

I think I'm gonna start with sowing at the beginning of March 2012.

The seeds are all stored in my seeds book, but I'm having short time till the end of February; moreover I'm not gonna use any lightbox, so I'll grow indoor till the outside temperature is rising again in Southern Italian spring.

I started growing in 2011 for the very first time, reaching the amount of about 25 pots/15 different varieties at the end of May; other 15 were given as gifts to friends and relatives.

My growing list for 2012:

CHINENSE
Bih Jolokia Chocolate
Bih Jolokia Assam
Naga Morich
Fatalii
Habanero Orange
Habanero Chocolate
Habanero White
Habanero Red Savina
Chupetino
Trinidad Scorpion
TS Morouga
T. Douglah
7 Pod
7 Pod Brown
7 Pod Strain I
Pimenta da Neyde
Pimenta Leopard
Pimenta Elisir
ANNUUM
Goat's Weed
Black Scorpion Tongue
Peter Pepper
Ancho Poblano
Early Jalapeno
Fish
Jalabomb F2
FRUTESCENS
Tabasco
Malagueta
Bird's Eye (overwintered)
BACCATUM
Aji Amarillo (overwintered)
PUBESCENS
Rocoto

BACCATUM x ANNUUM F2 (only saved 3 seeds from the only 3 fruits that the F1 plant gave me)

It's a 31-variety list, I know I'm gonna make my blacony suffer again. I cannot keep more than 1 plant per variety, so friends and relatives will benefit even more than last year (I will start growing 2 small plants per variety, then I will focus on 1 plant).

Season's coming, stay tuned.

new photos shot this morning... annuums are by far the fastest whereas among chinenses some varieties are really growing at a snail's pace (naga, bih, red savina, fatalii)

Your plants look great, Marino! Those little seedlings putting
on true leaves seem nice and robust.
Good luck going forward this season.

just come back from my grandma's country house, planted one of the overwintered red habanero in the ground there, among the citrus trees... not an espert eye but the black volcanic soil looked good to me, hope it is gonna perform well over the next months. not gonna look after it, so hope grandma will take special care of it.

morning shots in a cloudy naples... the america's cup has just started and the weather changed from mostly sunny to "hey, don't forget to bring your rain jacket!"

the temperature has fallen due to a chilly wind from NE

Hey, Marino! Overwinters and seedlings both looking just great!
Nice update. Good luck heading into summer!

Congratulations Marino :onfire:
thanks, as you can see your seeds have given birth to pretty seedlings :)

Great update, Marino. Plants are growing good and look healthy! Love the coloring on the Leopard and Elisir :)

yeah, but probably they are not receiving enough light (I don't have any light box), so I guess they will turn into darker colour when the sun is gonna be stronger in May

Mine was pretty similar when it was that size, now that it's bigger the top leaves are more green but the stem is almost black. The other Leopard doesn't have the coloring, it's green and a lot smaller ±18cm.

The plants were repotted last week into 0.7 - 1,5 L pots. As you can see I've also sprayed some copper oxychloride on the leaves to prevent from fungal infections.

They look great! Does the copper oxychloride work for the entire lifecycle of the plant or do you need too spray them on a regular base? I had Bad Leaf Spot last year and it killed a lot of my plants, really hard too fight it.

gotta repeat the application 3/4 times throughout the season

I had the same problem too, that's why I decided to use it.
