Marino's 2012 Grow Log

Hi everybody!

I think I'm gonna start with sowing at the beginning of March 2012.

The seeds are all stored in my seeds book, but I'm having short time till the end of February; moreover I'm not gonna use any lightbox, so I'll grow indoor till the outside temperature is rising again in Southern Italian spring.

I started growing in 2011 for the very first time, reaching the amount of about 25 pots/15 different varieties at the end of May; other 15 were given as gifts to friends and relatives.

My growing list for 2012:

CHINENSE
Bih Jolokia Chocolate
Bih Jolokia Assam
Naga Morich
Fatalii
Habanero Orange
Habanero Chocolate
Habanero White
Habanero Red Savina
Chupetino
Trinidad Scorpion
TS Morouga
T. Douglah
7 Pod
7 Pod Brown
7 Pod Strain I
Pimenta da Neyde
Pimenta Leopard
Pimenta Elisir
ANNUUM
Goat's Weed
Black Scorpion Tongue
Peter Pepper
Ancho Poblano
Early Jalapeno
Fish
Jalabomb F2
FRUTESCENS
Tabasco
Malagueta
Bird's Eye (overwintered)
BACCATUM
Aji Amarillo (overwintered)
PUBESCENS
Rocoto

BACCATUM x ANNUUM F2 (only saved 3 seeds from the only 3 fruits that the F1 plant gave me)

It's a 31-variety list, I know I'm gonna make my blacony suffer again. I cannot keep more than 1 plant per variety, so friends and relatives will benefit even more than last year (I will start growing 2 small plants per variety, then I will focus on 1 plant).

Season's coming, stay tuned.

Wow, a lot of nice plants, rare varieties.
That overwintered hab looks awsome :)

What is that milky fluid on the plants?

What is that milky fluid on the plants?

it's copper oxychloryde, to prevent fungal diseases

Marino :)

That sounds interesting I see it is F2 did the flavor change during the F1 or did it maintain the jalapeno traits interesting combination looked forward to seeing the progress of this specific plant and read your input once a pod ripens. Thank you for the complement

Great update again, Marino! Looks like your growing lettuce with those big leaves your plants have  Can't wait for some pod pictures, especially the jalabomb. Did the F1 had a different shape then the regular bullitshape?

the F1 had the shape of a cherry bomb, but was bigger in size; also the pungency was bigger (but, you know, this may be due to many variables)

the plant was not a big producer and suffered a severe attack of red spider mites

as flowers turn into fruits I'll keep you updated

I've brought them inside because it's windy today ... but they are totally staying outside on the house balcony, like the overwintered plants in the first 2 photos (I'm not moving them because they have the proper support)

last 5 five days were absolutely a mess about weather, it was stormy and windy, so I had to place the plants inside the house... that's why the chinenses now show some yellowish

didn't move the overwintered plants, 'cause I think they are strong enough to survive moreless any weather conditions

now let me show you some photos

Hey Marion awesome update and varieties. What is a malagueta is that a cross or variety on it own? what are you feeding them if you don't mind me asking.
Thanks Fernando
