Meatfreak 2014 Glog

So I've started my grow a couple of weeks ago, 28th of January. I use the same setup as previous seasons, 2x 125watt CFL 6400K lights, black/white foil. First round were the Chinense, about 22 different varieties, mostly superhots and hots. Almost everything germinated within a week and with a total germ rate of 92% I was pretty pleased. I potted them up last week and they quickly showed new growth again. Well enough talk, this is what the plants looked like yesterday, 10 days after transplant and almost 4 weeks from start date.

This one is a beast, very rapid growth, big leaves and already branching out? Georgia Black (Jason/GA Growhead)

This season I'm growing out a couple of crosses from friends like Gary/Nagabrain Chocolate F-2, Mike/Elysium Oxide Bonnet and Jamie/Green Hornet F-2. Also some phenotypes that showed up at John's garden, 7 Pot Peach F-2 and 7 Pot Caramel F-2. Of course I'm also growing my own discovery from last season, Pimenta Lisa F-2. Got 2 seedlings going, one has the desired traits so far and the other one is green as grass. Looking forward to growing both out!

Last weekend I started up the second round, mostly Annuum and some Chinense I got in trades these last few weeks. Today the the first ones sprouted after merely 3 days and even Chinense! Well that's it for now, thanks for keeping up so far :D

Fantastic harvests Stefan. Mustard EOB is a thing of beauty. That Georgia Black is a new one on me. What's the flavour like? Is it Georgia, as in the US state?
Yeah, ronnie it's color is really pretty. Both varieties have an great color, looking forward trying the Mustard. Got the Georgia Black last year from Jason (GA Growhead). Tried to find some info about it but couldn't find much besides the stuff I could guess myself. Yeah it's supposed to be from Georgia, USA. Flavour is like most Chocolate Chinense, less strong I must say. Also low in heat. My guts says it's an cross between Chinense x Baccatum. It has traits of both those varieties.

Last harvest shots.

Wow, what a read, I just read this entire glog from start to finish.

Absolutely incredible work Stefan and a pleasure to read with the awesome pics!

Beautiful looking peppers.........nice Scotch Brain comparison...I saw alot of the same pheno in the 1st photo, with my plants the shape in the 2nd is real nice..like the tail on those pods. I have Jamaican Bonnets doing the same.

The mustard EOB's look stable in shape and color. I like the fact that it's a pure, clean color compared to the standard mustard habs which always appear muted and dirty looking.

Stefan you've  had one of the best finale's as far as the final harvests....Tons of fully ripe peppers !
Thanks for taking the time to setup and display your pepper varieties...

Very nice pods again Stefan. The Georgia Black looks a little like Aji Panca as well.
They do indeed, that was something that came to mind. The flavor is not really that Chinense like, it's almost a bit like raisin or something, it's hard to explain :) Gonna smoke these after the weekend.

so how are the white giant? are they actually just a light yellow? hard to tell in your pic where you zoomed in what is what.
They are good, light fruity flavor like most white have. Not that hot, but a lot of oil inside. The are cream white, they only get really white when it's summer and get a good amount of sun. By the end of the season they look like this, although it's hard to get an good picture of it as light reflects on the white surface.

You continue to impress me Stefan!

Beautiful pods coming out of the woodwork ;)

You've had a most awesome season for sure!
It's been a blast and again a very interesting year. Applying multiple techniques to improve yield and making it possible that the plants needed less care due to lack of time. Next season I'm gonna lower in number of plants, doing a few improvements and see how that works out. Our summer wasn't the best and August was one of the coldest in years. Hell it was even colder and wetter then it is currently :D

Thanks, Greg. I really like tails on those pods as well, if we only could get a plant that produces pods like that :) Of course I'm growing it again next season! The Mustard EOB is truly beautiful, the color is indeed very pure and clean. I was also surprised by it's flavor and heat. I expected it to be similar to the EOB but it had the typical Bonnet flavor and heat, pleasant surprise :) The Mustard Hab tend to go easily orange/red when they ripe, this one didn't. Also another one I need to grow out next season. If you want I can send you some seeds along others.

Have a good weekend all!

Did you have a favorite jalapeno?
Yes, the Agriset 4108 and Tormenta were my favorites this season. Both were similar in heat but had an outstanding flavor, also the Tormenta kept that same flavor when it was ripe. All varieties didn't get as big as last season but we the summer was less good and we had an really bad August.
