Meatfreak's 2016 GloG

Later as usual, I started the 2016 tonight. Reason for this cause I'm growing out mostly crosses and I don't want to much yield (that I need to process :P) All in all I still ended up with 45 varieties and was aiming for 30... oh well

MFPJ is short for MeatFreak ProJect. These are my crosses/projects. Think I sowed about 500 seeds in total, big numbers on the crosses to see the possible different phenotypes.

Fantastic update. We've got color. Woohoo!

Seeing more and more bleeding Peaches this year. Your Peach BBG looks good. I like the bleeding peach colors.

Jukka just showed a Peach Gum Tiger and Enrico a PGJ BBG.

I really like the look of MFPJ30 and MFPJ37 that bright yellow is very nice.

The white bgg7s are looking good too.

lots of crosses. Don't know how I missed this thread.

Great harvest.
As far as shapes go , everybody has their favorites , but those Jalapenos are great. Are those your own crosses?
What went into them?

For the first time on this forum I am speechless - bravo! My mouth is wide open and them flies just keep flying in and out... I have run out of superlatives and compliments. Wow Stefan buddy - amazing stuff. Really wow!

My pale MFPJ10 phenotype went Peach to

Also found a plant that started putting out pods with long tails while the first pods looked like habanero's

Thanks, the peach is not a creation of mine however. Supposed to have turned white but gotten Peach on all 4 plants, they ripen very slow and very high up to the stem of the pod before the pod itself starts to change.

Cheers, those 2 are putting out some really interesting phenotypes. Gonna be hard to pick just 1 from them, also have an Peach of the MFPJ37 and a white pheno of MFPJ30.

Hi Stefan! Looking at your pics, you must be knee-deep in your harvest about now! Hope all is well. :)
I am, Rick and it's actually much more then I anticipated when I started the season. Currently having back issues again so not much harvesting happening but the plants are loaded. The weather is still pretty damn good for the time of year so no worries about that.

Great update Stefan really like the bleeding pods ... so many colours and the white is a must have pod just because it's so different .. will these be on sale soon or are you going to continue to stabilise
Hey John, I still gotta figure out what I wanna do with the BBG7 White, it seems to be growing true for everyone in color. Seeing some different shapes but that's about it. The seeds will never be for sale, I will just release it when I feel it's ready. Probably will do another year and then people can spread it out. Therefore I will spread it on a larger scale this time.

Very nice Stefan! I like the variation you're seeing in the MFPJ10 series.

Sorry to hear about the back woes, just no fun!

Thanks Scott, been struggling with it the past months and therefore not been so active anymore. I had quite some color variation in the MFPJ10, even an white phenotype showed up at the end of season but shapewise it's that interesting for now. Will give a couple a try in F-2 and see if the shape gets better, if not I will abandon the project :)

Great looking pod's, Stefan! Congrats on the crosses.

Take care of your back. Wishing you a quick recovery.
Cheers Chuck, still recovering here has taken much longer then I expected.

Despite the sh***y weather, you got some real gems going Stephan!

Datil
Thanks man! Peppers were the only thing this season that did rather well, almost everything else in the garden was somehow an disaster this season.

Hi Stefan, hope your back is feeling better by now! I notice your F4 Pimenta Lisa pods are looking chunkier than the ones I grew... good work!
You are right, Rick. These are more chunkier, but the pods later on were more elongated again. However out of the 10 plants I had only 2 went green, all others had variegated leaves and pods that went to the desired color. There was some difference in shapes but overall its starting to feel I'm getting a bit closer to stability of the variety. Other people that have grown it this season had it growing true as well, so less variation is something positive. But it will take at least up until F8 or 9 I think before its save to say its stable.

So much colours and shapes!
I hope too your back recovers, it sucks so much to stop for health issues...
Yes, it was and is very frustrating to not get much done. Luckily I had some help with clearing out so at least thats all done now since half October. Now I still need to process the last remaining pods but haven't been up to it.

Some more pics from this year's season.

MFPJ12 F-2 phenotypes, it also has given me 2 white phenotypes out of 18 plants.
20160921_193154.jpg

This cross really was a let down in F-2. Shapewise not very interesting and out of 30 plants 1 white phenotype which I will grow out next year.
20160921_193938.jpg

MFPJ27 F-2 #3 Also a cross that was somewhat disappointing, lots of yellow pods but only this one stood out. It did give me 3 white phenotype to grow out next year. Think you can guess some of the parentage here hehe.
20161110_085104.jpg

MFPJ18 F-2 phenotypes. Were other crosses disappointed, this one really surprised me with the color variation and gnarly pods. Only the yellow were smooth.
20161025_143534.jpg

MFPJ42 F-1 #2 curious to see what F-2 of this one will bring me.
20161110_090226.jpg

Very nice specimens Stefan. It's amazing how many phenos and colors that develop off one variety. I'm starting to understand my MOA variations in the past, as well as some F2's varieties that are not even close to the F1's.

Note to self. Grow more of the same variety.

Thanks again for sharing.
