Melissa77754 2012 Glog

Hey Everyone
icon_smile.gif

So I figured it is about time I start a Grow log of my own and I will do my very best to keep it up to date. With two kiddos and a massive amount of plants my days can be pretty hectic. I grew jalapenos and serranos last season, had a decent harvest considering the small pot size I used. In July I met a nice lady giving away hot pepper seeds to newbies on GW, decided to give them a try, August met Smokemaster through a generous SASBE offer and the rest is history!! lol

I started a batch in late August so I have some "overwinters" if you will, living in SoCal I can grow year round with the right protection from time to time. I started out with a cheap 12'x7' hoop house and when the winds thrashed that I bought two 6x8 with shelving, still the cheaper plastic hot house type but the shelving makes it heavy and the winds don't phase it. I also have a 6x6 indoor tent with a 4 bulb T5 and 2 monster size CFL's. The growth indoors versus out does not even compare, T5's are amazing! Have to thank my bro for giving me that fixture.

I am hoping I didn't bite off more than I can chew being it's my first real season growing super hots mainly. I plan to sell some plants along the way to help fund my pepper growing addiction

My log will be pretty picture heavy which I am sure most will not mind! Enjoy and happy pepper growing to everyone!!

i have 2 plants in my plot, however mine are way behind yours, there about 19 inches tall and the first set of leave have sun scald so i can expect that thos will fall of, it will grow new ones too

this is a first generation experament so ui dont even know if its viable, it was a cross between black hab and long choco hab, so its anyone guess what we will end up with, anyone who is growing the the CHOCO GRENADE let us know how they turn out and if they didnt stay crossed what parent did it favor

thanks your friend Joe

Well it's a good thing I have a few of these going as well, will be interesting to see the pod variations! Very cool Joe, thanks for the info! :)

Tight, Its nice to see your welcoming committee composed of a small pepper army, not much contrasts to a "welcome to my pad" than several million scoville's chillin inside their pods o chilies. If there were wild elephants roaming....well, they might think twice about messin with your casa. Cool schtuff indeed, Happy Growing and Good Vibes este Season!

Thanks for stopping in Alex I have a feeling that bed will be turning some heads later in the season, and I dare a neighbor kid to pick a pepper! lol. Happy growing to you as well! :)

Some random pics from the garden today, enjoy! ;)

This NOT Chocolate hab is going off, last week I didn't even notice it was loaded with peppers!

Had to tie up some branches on the yellow manzano today, this is just one very small area of the plant. Man I can't wait for these to be done! Powder is in their future! :D

Aji Joe's supreme mix mystery, convinced now it will turn completely purple. The flowers on this plant are purple at the edges, and so is the top of the stem.

Great stuff Melissa! Always fun to stop in and see whats happening on your glog. Also nice to have internet the works for now! Love the Manzano loading up...mine are still all show and no go. They look awesome though and are growing like weeds. Having to stake the branches up to hold pods is something I never complain about!

Dag nab it Melissa, I am so dang jealous! I have two nu-mex/anaheims that look as good as some of your plants (about 2 n half ft. 20 or so decent peppers and pods) and the rest just pale in comparison. Great job, I think I need some of your jumpy wormy deals! Lol.

As always, very impressed by the scope of your grow, Melissa.
Your documentation via photos is impeccable, and really sets a
standard that's tough to match! Thanks for taking time to compile
a great grow log at the same time as growing plants and children!

Good luck protecting your plants through the hot summer!

Hey Shane, thanks as always for stopping in! Manzanos are awesome plants, they grow like very pretty weeds! lol. I hope you get yours to set some pods soon, I moved my 3 potted Manzanos under the patio to get some shelter from the brutal sun. So far I have been pretty lucky, no flowers drops. Everything in the bed out front is doing amazing, the plants just love that bed for some reason, they are going to be huge by the end of the season! Hope all is well with you!

Hey some chiles are better than none! :) The worms are a new addition to the yard, but I am pretty confident they are hard at work already! My miracle worms. lol

Beautiful & healthy plants

That Black Scorpion Tongue is amazing!
Hope its taste is as good as its looks!

Looks great Melissa amazing photo and pods the plants are loving you for what you have provided them. How is your Peach TS going I was trying to get those started this year, but I was to late as Joe sold out hopefully we can working something out for those. The have the scotch bonnet charcteristics from the exterior but with a scorpion flavor hopefully you could get them to tail that is the one project I wanted to do this year. My 7 pod brainstrain yellow is flowering as well can not wait to start seeing pods hanging off.

Hey Melissa, your glog is looking awesome. I also have the AjiJoe Hand Gernade. I wasn't going to try it this season since its a little late for us up here in WA, but I just had to. I did the paper towel technique and it looks I got a hook. I'll be putting it in some soil soon. In the meantime I'll be watching for yours. Keep it up the other peppers you got going are awesome, nice colors all around.
Aaron
