G-Day, im Mez or Mezo & im new to this part of Australia having come from Perth (Western Australia) where growing chili peppers is so easy (except the heat).

I live in the border ranges in northern New South Wales (bordering Queensland) and its a mixed bag of temperate & tropical conditions, the summers are very hot, wet & humid, the winters are dry & sunny.

Average daily temps.

And average monthly rainfall.

Aussies reading this will already know this, but people in other country's probably paint a picture of Australia as a hot dry/dusty land but this is far from the truth, up north its full blown tropics with a wet season & 100% humidity (yuck). Down south its freezing cold & snow during winter, out west its a dry heat like in the Mediterranean & in the middle of Australia is desert country.

So im now growing for the first time "Super hots" and for a very important reason, whilst working away in Perth i had a double heart attack wich has left me permanently disabled, sadly they are unable to operate on me (bypass/stent) as its to far gone, so having worked all my life (Electrician) im now at the age of 45 claiming a disability pension & i hate not being able to work.

Now i take shovel fulls of dam tablets to keep my heart pumping & id rather not be taking any but right now there no option i have to take them or ill drop dead on the spot. After much reading i found out that cayenne powder has all sort of benefits to your health & well being, especially to your cardio vascular system. I had read that cayenne powder can stop a heart attack in its track & i put this to the test (twice) and yes it does work where the medication (Nitrolingual) had no effect.

So anyone reading this who spots a friend having a heart attack just flick some chili powder in a glass of water as fast as you can & get them to drink in right down, fast. It works within 30 seconds of drinking it & it saved me from two more attacks already.

So there's my life story in a nutshell & some sound advice on how to save a heart attack victims life.
And this ladies & gentlymen is why im growing "Super Hots" to make high heat cayenne powder for cooking to improve my circulation/remove fats & as a "just in case of emergency"

OK on with the first of my "Hots" the Bhut Jolokia, the reason i chose this was simple i just Googled "whats the hottest chili" and up popped the result, however further reading on the interweb i found threads from this forum & names like the Butch T, the Douglah & Brain Strain.

So ive ordered them from pepperlover.com after so many people gave such great reviews, Bhut in the meantime lets look at my Jolokia`s.

Must admit i just love the shape & color of these babies.

More soon,

Holy crap that is a boat load of drying peppers. You're going to have more dried peppers than some companies selling them.

Mez,

Awesome photos mate. Sorry I haven't been around much. Busy with the little ones. Your grow looks absolutely fantastic considering the weather hasn't been the greatest in NSW this year. I've got some varieties for you for next year... will mail them off to you in the coming weeks.

Hope all is well mate,
Conor

Thanks people, yes i used my fisheye lens for the first time in ages.

Another movie update taken this evening to show how many flowers i have left on the plants, stacks ! also where i point out Dave`s (3/5Kings) super scorp plant, that was the one if you remember that was a mere snapped off twig from the big storm, amazing comeback.

Its well in to autumn here & the temps are nice still, still have plenty of flowers on the plants.

Mez, Jungle is a good term for that grow tent of yours, looking good mate. After reading about the solar and then the ideas about adding the cold smoke to it, the one thing that crossed my mind was this. There are some cheap, like under 20 bucks here, cast iron smoking chip holders for use with gas grills that you could get and then get a cheap electric hot plate. Put some small fine chips in the holder and the holder on the hot plate. Set it for a low temp like 43 dC (110 dF) and let it go. At that low temp you should get a good long smoke on them and some drying without cooking them. You could also try just letting them go for 4 or 5 hours and then getting them into a good ferment and make some really good sauce.

Cheers bro, hope your feeling better

Nice vid Mezo. I have visions of summer being like this one day, for now though, more crappy weather as most of the UK is covered in snow again! Fun times! Those yellow Brains look tasty.

Thanks Bill, i will have to sort something out soon as i want to smoke some of the crops for sure, its just money is a little tight right now so the soldering iron & bake bean tin may win the day yet.

I rang my mum in the UK the other day Jonny & she said it was "bloody freezing"

End of April i reckon is a good time to put them outside in England, are you following slater1980`s grow by chance? his grow in Milton keynes last year was outstanding for a first effort.

Nice vid Mez! You're gonna be raking them in for a long time yet. Keep them green brother!

Cheer`s man, ill have more than enough to keep me going in powder for a couple of years easy, i think i should fire Nee some fresh peppers down to Melbourne seems his harvest wasn't the flashiest this season, i can spare some.

So i just went i checked how the dryer is going, squeezed a few to feel how dry they are, then went & wiped my brow as its well hot & humid, ten seconds later "burn burn burn, that burning ring of fire" yep forehead now on fire, i still keep doing this stupid shit.

Went out with Trish to pick up a ram (male sheep with big bollocks) yes honestly ill have to take a picture as you wont believe how big the crown jewels are on this sheep, HUGE !!

He`s mainly Dorper but still a cross, his coat sheds itself.

I decided to make a video whilst i was typing this, you don't get more live than on a Mezo thread. ;)

powders stay for a long time. Thats good you're doing that. Also good to see Budzilla is doing well.

You ever try making some fresh sauce? This recipe is real simple. I made sauces of 3 different peppers from it: http://www.saveur.co...cipes/Hot-Sauce

Nope never tried making a sauce in my life, ill use that bag of peppers i froze to make some later in the year, thanks for the link.

Just picked two weeks worth about an hour ago, weighs in at 2kg so im still getting 1kg a week on average.

That lot will use two entire drying racks, and ive got the Super Scorp`s to pull off yet which im going to save some seeds from.

Mezo.
