So as to not continue to hijack someone else's topic, I figured I'd start one up here.
Any muscle car fans in the house? I happen to be a HUGE muscle car nerd.
In my younger days (and when gas was still under $2/gal) I had a 1968 GTO that I loved very much. It had a somewhat rare combination of features, in that it was the 400/4 BBL, with the enduro bumper, hide-away headlights, rear antennae and dual exhaust, but had the "gentlemanly" options of a split bench seat, command control power windows (e.g. driver had a 4-window console). I loved that I could put the armrest up and my girl could slide over next to me at the vista point, but when cruising around I could have the armrest down and it was like psudo-bucket seats.
It was also a somewhat rare color, "nordic blue" (metallic silver-blue) which I think is one of the nicest colors GM put out - the lines of the car are so clean and the color really shows them off.
This isn't a pic of my car (only have a couple mediocre ones and my scanner is on the fritz) but this is basically it:
I wasn't a Pontiac snob, though I remember back then there were a lot of factions. You were either a Ford guy or a GM guy, or you loved MOPAR...the Corvette had its own following (and I am a sucker for a '66 Stingray with side-pipe exhaust)
But I was never one who disparaged other makes just because I had a Pontiac - I loved Fords, Chevys, MOPAR, AMC, etc though. If it rumbled and went fast, and had lots of chrome & shiny metal I was probably a fan.
I was more of a stock guy, though hot rods and chops had their place.
Anyone else here a fan? What's your favorite? Pics are fun!
I'll see if I can dig out some of my recent car show pics....
