Musky's 2015 half-assed glog

Hey gang! It's been a couple of years since I started a glog, so I figured I should give it another shot. I have always been a slacker about updating my glogs in the past, and I expect this one to be no different (hence the title). I will post the important stuff though, and eventually some xxx pepper porn. I promise. There will probably just be some lengthy gaps in between. Just think of it as a condensed version.

Okay, here we go! The first round of seeds hit the dirt 1/20/15. I'm trying out Burpee organic seed starting mix this time. It's a coco coir based mix that seems pretty nice, so we'll see how that works out. 72 cell trays, 2 seeds per cell (for most). I started some seeds I saved from different years of the same varieties to note any differences and isolate the best phenos. I will be growing in my back yard as always, but I will also have about 100 or so plants 25 miles north of the city like I did in 2012 and 2013.

Thanks for stopping by, and here's to a successful 2015 for all!

Well, I'm glad I haven't planted yet. It's supposed to dip down close to freezing tonight for (hopefully) the last time until the fall. I brought all the plants back down to the basement for the night just to be safe. I should have everything hardened off by the end of the week, and I hope to have everything planted out this weekend.

Quite a transformation , now I feel like a slacker......I've still got 3 rows to prep yet. Damn it man strikes again!

Nice collar, ;)

Did you survive the hail?  Both my gardens were flattened, we'll see how much of it recovers.
Sorry I missed your post. Ive been out of town for a couple weeks. Friggen hail... Mine took some damage for sure, but everything is still coming along. Mostly my squash, cukes, and eggplant got their leaves all torn up. The peppers and tomatoes didn't suffer much damage. Dang, it's hot here right now!

Most of my stuff has recovered too at this point.  I ordered some replacement plants but they were pretty anemic when I got them and I would say half have died.  I still have over 100 peppers of mine going strong, if a little delayed, so I should be good (if a little late from the recovery).

I thought for sure my (almost) 5-year-old Douglah mother plant was a goner a few weeks ago. It was almost bare, and sick looking in it's little 2 gallon container. I didn't even bother potting it up or putting it in the ground this year because I figured it would be a waste of time.

Well, after some summer heat and thunderstorms it decided to make a comeback! I potted it up today, gave it a nice snack, and put it as a centerpiece in the middle of my raised bed where it belongs. I'm stoked that it's looking happy again!

She was a beast in her day, and hopefully will be again. I bet I have grown over 100 plants from her seed.

I will get some more updates in soon, once I get the gardens cleaned up a bit. I've been out of town for a while, and haven't even seen my big garden for about two weeks. I'm guessing it's fine because we have had a lot of rain. Hopefully the deer haven't munched too hard on it.

Nice haul! Those are an interesting looking tomato.
Thanks! I was able to pawn off about half of the summer squash to neighbors this evening. I even got a couple beers out of the deal. :) There's no way I can use that many before they go bad.

Yeah those tomatoes almost look like peppers don't they? They're my favorite heirloom paste tomato that I've grown. Tasty and very productive.
