My bike is totaled

I had an accident on my 2002 Honda VTX1800S on March 6th and the insurance just called to say they are totaling it since the repairs were much more than it's value.

I thought I would be relieved as I wouldn't have to deal with getting it back and selling it and all but it's kind of weird to think I won't see the old girl again.

Oh well, it's just an inanimate object right?

the pic looks like the bike is in good condition, lol.

sorry to hear that, ooh well get you a new one.u have a excuse now

i am so sorry to hear this!(glad you are ok) motorcycles are like our kids(at least mine is) i would be devistated as i have spent lots of money and time working on it! granted with mine if i crash it i take it home and fix it. no ins to help with it,.

what are you thinking about getting?

Thanks everyone. I broke my ankle and had surgery and two titanium screws inserted into the tibia.
I am doing very well and only have a slight limp now that will go away in time.

Eric, I am not going to buy another street bike as I don't feel safe on them anymore with all the cell phones, people putting on make-up, reading the newspaper, etc. and I don't want to go through what I just did with crutches and all for almost 10 weeks. The pleasure of riding doesn't outweigh the risks in my opinion.
Cagers are scarier than ever! If I get another bike I will get a dirt bike where it is just me and nature.

Just buy a track race bike and come.to race tracks with me and my friends and ride safe!!! Lol shit i broke ky ankle and hhad 10screws put into my fibula slipping on wet grass. Get another bike and just do back country rides and cokkute iin the cage!

Dude - sucks about the bike, sucks more about the ankle but look at the bright side:

1. You're alive & well. (90%)
2. You didn't get a pink cast like some people I know (cough, Spongey, cough)

Sorry to hear you're going to give up riding and I'm glad you weren't seriously hurt.

I went through a paranoid stage a while back and sold mine. Quit riding for 25 years. Recently got back into it. The paranoia is there but not as intense and I believe it keeps me more focused. Any one of us can die at any moment by things we cannot control. I don't want to die riding a motorcycle but I also don't want to die from a heart attack while grocery shopping. You can't let fear run your life.

bummer dude. i rercently lowsided my bike a couple moths ago, and have been piecing it back togther...i cant wait to ride again!!!! just dont give up on it, and keep riding!

It has nothing to do with paranoia or fear. Hell, I was thinking of selling the bike weeks before the accident. If you want to ride go ahead, I choose to eliminate one potential threat to my health unlike a heart attack which I cannot control.

They are giving me $9,000 for my bike so now I am really glad they totaled it as I would be lucky to get $6,000 for it on the market.
Needed the money for medical bills and other things money is short on.
