L- aji habanero C - peruvian white habanero R- zavory

these aji santa cruz are finally ripening up. they had better be outstanding with how long ive had to wait to try them!

IMG_4107.jpg

ive been messing around with hybridization yesterday and today and crossed my aji habanero to 3 aji santa cruz flowers... mainly because the aji hab is alot faster and has about 3 to 4 times as many fruits per plant. hope the pollinations take!

does anyone have tips for crossing c. chinense? the flowers are sooo damn small. i was hoping to cross my peruvian white hab to the bhut jolokia

ive been having problems with my jamaican hot chocolate hab and bhut jolokia flowers falling off, so i moved them under a tree so they can get some filtered sun. are there any other tips you're aware of to stop the blooms from falling off?

one more thing... whats the cause of seeds w/ black embryos. harvested early? late? some seeds just dont ripen correctly?

thanks!

An "old wives tail" for some, but has been proven in agriculural studies, to help with blossom failure is to spray epsom salt with a misting bottle when the early morning dew is present on the plants, also, I've used a product called blossom set which has worked wonders on my tomato plants during consistent hot spells over 90 degrees. How spicy are those Zavory's?

thanks pic 1. i havent been foliar feeding b/c i was afraid of destroying the pollen, so i sprinkled some epsom on the soil surface. i'll spray them first thing tomorrow!!

the zavory have no heat. they are sweet with an almost candy-ish taste. i like them alot!

the aji santa cruz finally ripened up and i ate 10 of them right off the plant. they were delicious! there was a touch of heat that made my tongue tingle but barely noticeable. i over ripened them because these were the last seeds i had and need more, so that might be why they werent hot so i've got to try some more to be sure. but i think they are pretty mild to begin with
