Yes we need to see pics! Potted plants often do just as good or better than grounded plants, just make sure they can get a lot of light from that porch, as that's the way I do it in an apartment! Good luck!

Wow, all those on your porch huh? Thats alot of plants on the porch. Ever have problems with the local wildlife messing with them? Cats, squirrels, people...yada yada?
 
I get my transplants from chileplants.com. They are in NJ and I've been getting transplant from them for the past two years and I've had great success.

Maligator, yes it's a lot of plants! I have about 65-70 plants on my porch every year. I have other plants and even trees (fig, lemon, pomegranate, olive and more!) in containers and it's standing room only on my porch.

And yes, I have a serious squirrel problem every year. They like to dig in my pots and hide nuts! Some of those nuts sprout in my pots! Finally, I have an organic solution: cayenne pepper. I sprinkle cayenne pepper around the base of my plants and it keeps them away. The only problem is reapplication after rain and/or watering.

To everyone, I'm sorry I didn't post pics! I'll learn how and do better :)

I ordered 4 varieties from them as a failsafe in case I couldn't get the seeds I ordered to work out. How did those plants produce?

All of them produced very well. Last year, my trinidad scorpion produced out of this world! My Bhut Jolokias, Scotch Bonnets, Jamaican Golds, Habanero Long Chocolate and Fatalii produced very well too.

The only problem I've had with them was in ordering tomatoes. A couple of them were diseased and I wound up with some deformed diseased tomatoes. But as for the peppers, nothing but success. On January 1st of every year, I place my order to make sure I get what I want before it's sold out! This includes the fresh chiles they ship too. They don't charge you until it's time to ship them.
 
Cool, glad to hear they have been good to you and I feel a little better about ordering some from there. I was a little worried about my success rate since this is my first year, but I've been learning alot from this forum and already made a couple trades for seeds here as well. Glad I found this place. ;)

This is my first time posting pictures, so I hope this turns out right! These are your regular jalapeno, hot banana, and cayenne transplants that are covered in diatomaceous earth because slugs love to munch on their leaves. Sprinkled on top of the pine straw is cayenne pepper to keep those annoying squirrels away that love to dig in my pots and hide nuts. They sometimes get awfully deep and close to the root, I mulch with pinestraw because it falls plentifully on my porch year around from all of the pine trees growing in the back.

These are the 24 transplant that I ordered from chileplants.com. They arrived yesterday. One of these I'm going to put in my topsy turvy-- either a Trinidad Scorpion or Red Scotch Bonnet, or maybe I'll change my mind completely. Anyway, if anyone is interested, this is how healthy they looked when they arrived. They were shipped on the 12th from NJ and arrived to me yesterday in SC the 14th. None dead or yellowing in the least.

Thanks again. 2nd pix is transplants that arrived from Cross Country yesterday. Third pix down is orange habanero and cayenne from seed that germinated outside. I don't have grow lights etc. They are sitting on my grill as a matter of fact! The last pix is the most of my porch garden as I could get into the lense! There is a mix of tomatoes, peppers, and herbs. Against the fense are fruit trees. Forefront are those 24 transplant that I'm going to have to create space for on the porch!
 
The white powder is diatomaceous earth. I have a bad slug problem. This is like glass to them. I also have egg shells on top of the pine straw because the sharp edges cut them too and there is some cayenne pepper sprinkled on the pine straw to avert the squirrels that dig in my pots! Sounds like a lot, but it works! I'm an organic grower.
