I'm about to embark on another grow experiment, this time with six 56-quart Sterilite containers and a 600-watt MH system. Three tomato plants (mostly Celebrity but one each of Trust) per container. Celebrity is a Determ, Trust is and Indy.
I've always used 5" net pots, that's what the first system I bought came with and I never really gave much thought to it. But I'm wondering if I really need to. I will use something akin to a Florida Weave to hold the plants upright and in rows, so as long as the net pot is large enough to hold the rockwool, is there any benefit to make it larger. I was thinking about 3" as that is still a decent size but would leave more of the lid of the container intact, making it stronger.
Any experiences or thoughts?
Mike
