Yeah man it's blood red. 10-12 drops of red food coloring ensures it has a bloody color. Strawberries are only "really" red on the skin. Food coloring adds no flavor and it is what it is. Color. I use it to enhance a blueberry sauce, or an orange/mango sauce. Presentation is enhanced if the color of the sauce matches the fruit ingredients. So much fun.

BTW the way, alcohol is an additional natural preservative that aids in thinning but you could use rum or tequila for a tropical fruit type sauce.

Gimp does an amazing job for free. I do a TON in gimp, it's pretty robust.
