New Industrial Indoor Urban Farming Company Focuses on Peppers.

Urban Till is dedicated to being on the leading edge of the food supply evolution and changing the way people and businesses get their produce. We are transforming derelict urban properties into productive vertical green spaces capable of providing high quality, and hard to find produce. We accomplish this goal using a sustainable business model that focuses on efficiency, research and development, and continual improvements. We have just moved into a 15,000 square foot facility on the west side of Chicago in March. Our initial product focus is in rare peppers. We currently have 300 Bhut Jolokia plants in production.
We need all the community support we can get!
We have been documenting our progress on Face Book and would love for you all to watch us grow and share our story with your friends.

We hope to be an active member of this community and both learn and share the lessons we have learned from our farming with you.
.
Also we are looking for feedback. What peppers and produce would you like to have a dependable supply of year round?

Thanks

Brock & Todd

Hey guys,

This is a great idea, I'm interested to see how your project develops. You might be interested in checking out these guys from Finland for ideas on mass marketing rare peppers. They brought Aji Crystal (hot) and Naga Morich (Very Hot) to super markets in their country. Aji Crystal seems like a great pick because it's hot (but not insane), pretty, and has a sexy name. It would be awesome to have stuff like this in grocery stores in the US.

You need to have the crop sold before you plant the first seed...just some words of wisdom through experience...

good luck in your enterprise...are you growing inside or outside? Greenhouses?

would like to hear more about your operation...

edit: you do have quite an operation don't you?

Wow. Good luck to you guys. I can't imagine what your electric bill will look like. Do you have any previous experience growing Bhut Jolokia? Also, are you going to be focused more on selling plant starts or pods, powders, etc.? Since you asked...I would like to have a fresh supply of Fatalii year round.

Chileaddict - Fresh Pods will be primarily selling. From time to time I can foresee us selling plants and clippings when we run into surplus situations.

AlabamaJack - 100% Indoors we are going to try to focus on providing rare items in off seasons. Our focus will not only be in providing products but research and development on how to shorting grow cycles, cultivate difficult items with higher success rates etc, and other methodology breakthroughs that lower the overall cost of vertical farming .

My wife is from Oak Lawn on the south side...next time I am in town, I would love to visit your operation...if you accept visitors that is...

Wow great setup. I think they could produce twice as much in a controlled environment then outdoors, and they are going to need to since all that overhead will make profits shrink.

Brock,

Best of luck in your growing and revitalization efforts, it isn't easy, you may have seen this (a recent post of mine) already, if not check it out.

I don't do FB but may have too soon for my business next year, sigh...

Ghosty...
