Hi,

I've read a couple forums over the last year and decided to join. Besides hot and sweet peppers, I grow a whole bunch of other veg and herbs, including lots of garlic, and I keep honeybees and grow fig trees. A couple years ago, I wasn't satisfied with the way my peppers were growing, so I read a bunch of books geared toward their requirements and they're doing lots better. Just like many other veg, peppers have an awesome range of heat and flavor, so I grow new varieties all the time, see what I like, then try to save seed (getting better at it, not fully there yet), and discard what doesn't work. And obviously try to find creative ways to process them into sauce, salsa, powder, etc.

Right now, I have planted: Red Habanero, Bhut, Rooster Spur, Aji limo, Sheepnose, Pequillo, Red Marconi, Baklouti, Paprika

Look forward to learning more - growing techniques, varietals, and recipes!

:welcome:  to the THP forums from SC! Nice to have you aboard! I LOVE figs and honey; sadly there isn't anywhere really around here to get figs fresh whenever they are in season. Fresh figs are so unique compared to dried (... which are awesome of course; that's how I have to get them here - usually Black Mission or Brown Turkish). I used to have a 'secret' tree I discovered smack dab in the middle of the woods along with an odd pear tree that I used to go and harvest fruit from - why it was there, or how it got there I'm not really sure. I'm thinking it may have been the site of an old house pre or early 1900's and the fruit trees were left standing and over the years the site just grew into woods. Sadly, it all got dug up and cleared to make way for the spreading 'concrete jungle' of 'development'.  :tear:

You definitely found the best place for info as to different varieties, growing, cooking with, and processing your peppers! May you have a great season/harvest this year!
