EDIT- Food Pics in last post!  10Sept2014!!!

It's about time to get the NorthWest ChileFest 2014 thread started.   :woohoo:

Feel free to shout out for a new location if anyone has any great option.  Other than that, I'm suggesting back at the Kanasket-Palmer State Park near Seattle.

Labor Day is Monday Sept 1st.  In the past we've gone on the first weekend after Labor Day.  That would put the NWCF on September 5-7, or we could go the next weekend Sept 12-14.

For new folks, this will be our 5th Annual Northwest Chilefest.  It's a bunch of us THP chileheads and families getting together for a camping weekend.  Eat some good food, share some good times...Saturday afternoon is our main get-together where day trippers join us for a pot luck.  We usually have a bunch of sauces and chiles to share and sample.

Here's the threads for the 2013 NWCF in Eastern Washington, the 2012 NWCF at Kanasket-Palmer , and the 2011 NWCF at Lake Sammamish.

The State Park opens up reservations for any given date 6 months in advance.  Kanasket-Palmer usually fills up fairly quickly, so if that's where we want to go, we need to be ready to Book It, Dan-O!  Kanasket-Palmer also has yurts for those who don't have camping gear.

Also, as you see people join or run into people from the Northwest in the different forums, mention this and ask if they've seen this post.  I've seen a lot of new Northwest folks joining this past year, let's make sure everyone knows about it.

Let the discussion begin!

What Campground?
What Date?

OR!!!! y'all can come on up to WA and join us!!!  :lightbulb:

Siccy's post does remind me...the NWCF is open to everyone.

(Edit- just found the original wording-)

FYI- just to clarify- the Northwest includes...
All of Washington state, Oregon state, British Columbia, the Yukon, Alaska
-Most of California, NM, AZ, UT, CO, WY,MT, all of ID, Alberta, and parts of HI
-any person temporarily in any of the afore-mentioned areas for purpose of business or pleasure
-anyone who used to live in the afore-mentioned areas
-anyone who has traveled in the afore-mentioned areas
-anyone who has a relative living in, or who used to live in the aforementioned areas
-anyone who would like to travel to or live in in the aforementioned areas......

   Pretty much ....Everyone!

K-P State Park has a picnic shelter that worked great for the Saturday PotLuck.  Probably get that again.

Absolutely!  Wouldn't turn that down.  Trade? or $?
heck, we'd even let Pensyltuckians to join us!

Smokin' James, that's almost right next door to you!  Love to have you join us!  Discussions will get going here in a couple weeks when the reservations open up.

Keep an eye out.

NWCF is Sept 12-14 at Kanasket-Palmer State Park!

I just made the call and reserved the picnic shelter for Saturday Sept 13th.  I also booked campsite #24 for myself for Friday-Saturday.  Last time at Kanaskat-Palmer we had several campsites around numbers 23-26 and that area worked good.  Easy access to the picnic shelter.

Here's the state park website.  Start getting ahold of the rest of the NW Posse and get your reservations in!  The park will fill up, so let's try to get some sites together.

Oh nice...thats only 25 miles from my house!  I'll probably just drive out for the pot-luck though.  But I'm totally excited!

GREAT!  Looking forward to seeing you again, Paul.

K-P SP has yurts for those who don't have camping gear.  We can also add-a-vehicle to the sites.  Most sites are big enough so a couple tents or tent and trailer etc can set up and share the space.  It's $10 for an extra vehicle, but sharing a space and sharing costs is good.

Happy Growing, RS67~!  We'll see you there!

Anyone have an idea for a chile contest?  Might have some chile plants to use as prize.

Pure Evil 9.6 Top Ramen?  JayT did 10 drops of 9.6 in a cup-o-noodles, that kicked his butt but he did it!  We talked about that challenge a couple years ago.

a simple jalapeno eating contest?  First person to eat 10 jalapenos....

Any other ideas?

Just checked the campground.  Looks like there are still a few sites open if someone wants to camp.
