It may take a while and you may have to go over someone's head, Hopefully there is someone over the boss's head that you can go to. And if you have any co-managers who agree with you, maybe approach it as a group-gripe, so it won't seem like you are picking on the poor girl.

Make sure the person doing the hiring is a woman, go to the interview in that sexy apron you have, you just might land a different kind of job than the one you went in for!

The company owner hired her, likes her, and she will be sitting outside his desk. Everything starts and stops with him and he likes her so there will never be anything documented is the problem. To make matters worse everyone knows she is pretty much useless so she never really gets an opportunity to fail because no one trust her to do anything. I think everyone was fine with her just answering the phones, but now that she's going to be doing other things is just a scary thought.
 
I think the poll says it all.... I can say for sure she will make more work for everyone. Here is an example: she got an e-mail from a friend that said funny joke or some other BS and for whatever reason saved the attachment, opened it up and clicked on it. Nothing happened, but oddly her computer started getting a bunch of pop ups and a bunch of new icons appeared on the desktop and then her computer locked up. So what does she do? She waits for another employee to go out to lunch and then tries to open the SAME file on that employees computer. Guess what the same problem. Not satisfied she then logs into 2 other computers at empty desks and tries to open the joke on those computers as well...... Before the end of the day the network had several copies of the virus and all 4 computers she was trying to view the "joke" on where corrupt and infected with the virus. Her explanation is I thought it was a funny joke and didn't want to miss out on it.... I was pushing for at minimum a suspension for a couple of days without pay, but it was quickly brushed under the table and NOTHING was put in her file! She is almost 30 and seems to have the competency level of a 16 year old.

Eye candy is exactly what it is. Eye candy. Might promote business in the right place, but at some point, when is pretty not an excuse???? You could always petition the moving of her back to answering phones and being pretty. Leave the work to those who can function outside of social networking. Dont replace her. Just work on getting a raise!!!!! LOL Whats working a little OT if you got something nice to look at when doing it?

Oooh seen this before and believe it or not the person who documented it got fired as it was deemed creepy and he got accused of being a work stalker.

OUCH! Well....that's a tough one. Set her up for failure again and again?

And about the "stalker" idea, I suppose I can understand that in the private sector. I'm coming from working in a government job where the person hired was hired because of their ethnicity, not because they were qualified for the job. We had to document everything, from coming to work late, to not doing as told,...but luckily (I guess) This person felt they could call in sick, and not show up and be late because of their ancestry.


6 months later...(that's the probation period, couldn't fire until then)........GONE!
 
Businesses can be really unfair.

I'll spare you a lot of details, but I lost my job via layoff of 10 years and had a stellar work history. (3 sick days and 2 mistakes in 10 years) There is a woman STILL working for the same company that's been demoted 3 times....and is, I SWEAR, so stupid she'd stare up into the rain till she drown..... :crazy:
 
Everything being said, whatever happens, you should totally "stumble" across this song one day where she can here it at work!!!

For those sensitive, there is minimal swearing in this song, but nothing out of line. Very fitting.

 
hahah she probably wouldn't get it even if I did play it close by. Well I have at least gotten one victory by taking an important task away from her and giving it to one of the accounting girls instead. It's funny because I heard her talking about her new job roles and how excited she was to do this new thing and today I get to tell her don't worry I have it covered.

So this morning I'm helping the new receptionist do a few computer related task and the eye candy left instructions and not surprisingly they are all wrong! As I'm reading them I just throw them away. The bimbo comes in and says they are not wrong that's how I was trained. She is soo stupid she forgot that the instructions where already taped to the monitor over a year ago!! She kept forgetting things so I actually taped instructions to the monitor and even then she couldn't get it right. The sad part is the instructions consist of 2 things!! I say to the new girl here are the instructions, but feel free to take the sticker off the monitor it's only 2 things you have to do, but your predecessor couldn't remember that much. We both had a good laugh.. If anything her stupidity is at least amusing..
 
How was she able to use other peoples computers? you must not be on a network. No virus protection either? geesh sounds like your IT guy needs something in his/her file - Its okay to have eye candy as a receptionist but if she is blowing the boss there is nothing you can do. She will get old or pregnant and become an eye sore eventually Karma is good for that.

Most if not all computer "networks" allow anyone on the network to login. The file was in a personal e-mail that she was opening from her online account. Since it was opened from an e-mail I guess it never got caught by the virus scanner. Either way it was piss poor judgment and in the past I've terminated more than 1 employee for less.
 
Sounds like the boss likes his eye candy. They eating lunch together yet? Staying late to "catch up"? Why else would he put up with that kind of incompetence?
