One last shot at it... DeNNiZ 2015 glog

so the past two years, ive been devastated with something i did not know.  it was a plague that consumed my plants late in 2013 and all year in 2014!!  this past fall, i had a chance to take a SOIL and PEST MANAGEMENT class and it was here where i learned what i was fighting..
 
 
i sent my plants to a lab and from there they diagnosed my issue to be ERIOPHYID MITES.. these guys are MICROSCOPIC (can be seen with 60x loupe) 
and have consumed my desire to grow...  it was hard to fight something i did not know was even there.  now that i do.. i am ready to try again ....

got this tepin @ a burger joint.. snapped a branch and got it to root... first flower...
 

 

local buddy in san diego got me soem seeds from his PINK TIGER pods... he was the only one i knew stateside the got the results he wanted.  i have about 8 plants going.. hoping for one to continue to trait
 

these 3 pink tigers dont look as purple due to only getting window light and no direct sunlight

I hope things are going well with your grow and those nasty mites!
Your plants are looking nice and green looks like you have a great start.

I've had critters invade when the plants are in the grow shelf in the house. I can't imagine where they come from. This year it's been Aphids. Last year mites.

still have red mites with my inside grow.. pruned most of their leaves and sprayed azamax... seems contained with occassional leaf here and there

yes.. and scared plants might get neglected...

Rescued pepper turned out to be a orange hab...but with cold weather looks like peruvian orange..lol

converting this carport into a greenhouse...i know some may say.. not enough light.. but believe me this area gets 8 hrs of good sunn and can get extremely HOT... itll be 80s and my polytunnel would be oever 100

That carport will make a great greenhouse!  
What are it's dimensions?  Looks like a 8 x 10
or so?
 
Liking the plans for converting the carport to a greenhouse. Are you gonna put in a fan to cool things down in there during the hot weather or just move the plants outside then?
 
or can just leave the sides open put a flap or something so you can get a cross wind. looking good, my wife in RN program too, fun stuff lol.

i sowed a few months before and didnt do so well.. hoping they do better this time around

seems to be under control due to cooler weather inside the house.. but once it gets warmer..you know how that goes...
 
as for the dimention.. bigger for sure.. maybe 12 x8???

ill figure something out... i have a couple months....  with the wife in the program im super mom/dad so .. what time i have left is minimal for the plants

ventilation??? lol you;re suppose to put that..??  ya.. still figuring things out.. cant be worse the the polytunnel that had SIDE windows on the BOTTOM!!
 
 
heres an update so far....dad found these to help secure the sunshade.. things are still iffy.. but trial and error



 
might raise the horizontal bars higher.. so we can attach the bungees there

 
been busy with seedlings.. i do keep an aerogarden in the garage and play with them first before i do the others

Denniz great update ... good to see someone else growing Borg 9 ... I have two in soil at the moment and as immature plants they are huge ... Borg Chocolate same size as yours are you going to use hydro or soil for these varieties

all that I put in the aero eventually go into soil. Can't wait too long as it will get stuck. .. Nigel has a flexuosum in his and he has to add eater every 3 days.mm that won't work well if he has to be out of town...
as foe the borg. Just curious to see if it gives off same pheno
 
@ Denniz I had the russet mites 2013-2014 as well. I swore I had a virus, but was confirmed through UC Davis plant lab that they were russets. I used the same sulfur dust as you did, which was recommended from the pathologist . I used two bags of that stuff on my whole yard and left 2 plants just to kill off any stragglers. So far I'm mite free.

Looking good Denniz interesting projects.
I see grafted heirlooms tomatoes or peppers supposedly there more disease resistant and produce better .
I say fine and all but if you want those results you will have to buy another grafted plant unless a course you know how to do it yourself .
I like the rooting project too.
I go ahead & plant some of those Hawaiian hots can't hurt you might be surprised.
 
Great effort DeNNiZ... your grafting experiment has gotten my attention for sure. I've heard you have to match the size of the stem to be grafted pretty carefully to the size of the rootstock... true? Did you do anything else like seal the wound with wax? I've heard they do some grafting with Tomato plants, so it seems like it should work with other members of the Nightshade family.  Keep up the good work!
