Ornamental peppers 2007

Looks great and tastes good sounds like you got a winner POTAWIE.

This weekend I tasted my pretty purple(attached pic).
It tasted like raspberry.
Kinda weird they're not suppose to taste good.
And the Orange Thai tasted like carrots.

To answer the question, Black Perl is a hybrid:

"It resulted
from a cross between a purple-foliaged plant (94C27) and a green-foliaged plant
bearing clusters of small round fruits (86-Arb-1). The purple-foliaged parent
was selected from an open-pollinated population of 'Royal Black', a bushy,
variegated purple, green and black cultivar. Selections were made for vigorous
plants with dark foliage pigmentation and clusters of upright fruits. Following
a series of controlled pollinations to stabilize seed production, 'Black Pearl'
was then trialed under field conditions in IL, MD and FL and nationally in the
All-America Selections trials in 2004."

Sort of contradicts itself. Its a hybrid but a stabilized hybrid. So when is it no longer considered a hybrid. Pretty much every plant was hybridized at some point. People are successfully saving BlackPearl seeds. Confusing anyways.

The Royal Black is beautiful. How do the pods taste?

No pods even started yet. I need to start taking better care of them. They are the only ones that photograph well in the long grass.

Same yellow bird chile with ripe fruit. I ate a ripe one the other day and they taste typically chinense and very picante.
