The dentist said it happens sometimes. He is a friend of my mother's, so I have no reason to doubt him. He gave me antibiotics as well just in case.

I'd like to think so. It took them quite a while, so hopefully they did. I am cool with checking out my tooth, but I haven't attempted to look at the wound in the mirror. I think that freak me out a bit. My mother said it didn't look too bad.
 
It is the first time I am happy the network from my working place filtered the pictures! I can't see the pictures, but reading the other posts I can imagine some not very pleasant images.
Wish you a quick recover, and a clean hole (sounds weird???  I just mean, no bone frags there).
 
Hurts to look at the photo.  I haven't the words other than hope you stopped at the booze shop on your way home.

BTW: If you think this is going to happen again, there is another more expensive way to pull a tooth.  They drill a hole and put a splitter tool thing in there to bust it into separate pieces, one for each root.  Had a room mate opt for this and had to drive him home cause they put him completely under.  He was a frigging hoot on the way home.  Kept wanting Taco bell, then couldnt keep it in his mouth.

No booze for me, but after he yanked it I made a bee line for Shopko and filled that hydrocodone prescription and I've been eating them like M&Ms. The dentist is a friend of my mother's and she just told me he messaged her to say it was one of the worst extractions he ever had to do.
 
I've heard of them doing something similar to that, but have never seen it. Was your buddy like this? :rofl:
