Ozzy's All Grain on deck

I think it's going to be really good. It definitely needs to mellow out. Nothing is too harsh, but it should blend really well. I'm hoping it's going to be as balanced as I think it is. It's super silky on the mouthfeel, which I'm ecstatic about.

I have the Kindle book ...

You'll get this ...

I object completely to the cover of it ... where the dimensioning has NOTHING to do w/ the illustration ...

It drives me BONKERS!

I can't decide what I want to make next. I can't even narrow down a style. Probably going to be coffee involved though. I may call the coffee shop that supplied to 4hands on the Bonafide imp stout I posted. The coffee flavor and aroma is great.

I'm also going to continue looking at the oatmeal cookie Porter I'd like to try. I also want to use some maple syrup sometime so we'll see what happens. I can see getting some midnight wheat or smoked rye in for that.

Lol funny you should say that. I didn't really pay attention to it until I took a pic. I was like who the F drew this. This is dumb. Fortunately, I've heard it's a good book so I just grabbed it.

I want a freezer w/ 4x kegs of variation on Wheebz stout, and the other to have 4x kegs of staggered dry-hopped Red-Eye w/ Columbus and Citra ...

That's why I'm going to build out my bigger rig, I think, next ...

I just want a bunch of the two beers I know I like for a few months, so I can focus on some baking and stuff ...

And, I want to cross all of the bridges I've been avoiding - BeerGun/bottling, canning starters, water chemistry learning and application, and making mead ...

I mean, they could have put %'s next to grains and hops, and yeast. That would have made sense. But no, they have a cad like drawing, of a horribly ill conceived plan. Lol. Abort! Your project is fuct.

Yes, *EVERYONE* says new brewer's should learn to formulate from that book ...

I like ASKING WHEEBZ =) ... it's like The Wieners Circle of brewing.

Yeah. I plan on canning some wort. I will also be purchasing a deep freezer soon. Sam's has a 5.0 for $129 right now. We want one for food. I'm going to get it. See how many kegs I can fit. I'm hoping 4. But 3 will probably suffice. They also have a 7.1 for 179. So if it's only 3 I may buck up.

Then I will be able to cold crash and make up a keezer. Once I have that I will definitely always have Imp stout on tap. I can't wait for the one I brewed to age for this month. I have a feeling it's going to be awesome. Once it's dialed in, I can split batch it and try out some nibs, oak, vanilla, and coffee.

Absolutely. Wheebz is a great resource. I just shipped him a package of beer today.

I really see myself brewing batches of wort outside 3-4 time per year, for variation on favorites, but mostly doing new recipes as 1.5 gallon stove-top pilot batches ...

I'm going smaller and bigger, and leaving the middle ground ...

12-15 gallons of tried-and-true from the outdoor rig, and 1-2 gallons on the stove for exploration and one off's ....

Fine idea. I'll have to upgrade my mash tun to do bigger 10 gal batches. That imp stout was about max for a 5 gal batch.

But yeah I liked splitting that Wit up to try some stuff out. I'll dump 2.5gals and not care if it's bad.

One of the beers I sent Wheebz was the Ballast Point peppermint victory by sea. I'm hoping he'll have an idea how to replicate it. I know he says mint in beer is bad, but it's soooo good.

Two things were burning me out ...

Not getting enough beer for the time spent from the eBIAB's complexity ...

Having too much beer that's not as good as good commercial beer ...

Even having three gallons of something I only like a bit is arduous as fuck ...

i get a whole 346 dollars back from taxes this year

a sacks ea of Golden Promise and Pils, some of US-05, and the difference in Columbus, Citra, and CO2 ...

This wins the most random post on THP. I am somewhat drunk...but I must have missed something.

Wheebz and Grant are tremendous resources to me.

Ozzy nice post on the Sams freezers. I may have to pick one up if they are available at my local Sams.

What?

I said I'm going to brew a little bit no matter what weekend after next, and that I'm going to stop brewing 2.5-3 gallon batches of wort and instead brew 1.5 gallon stove-top batches or 12-15 gallon outdoor batches is all ...

I ready to enjoy a season or two where I have a bunch of beer that I like on tap, and experiments coming through a gallon-and-a-half at a time, and not 2.5-3 gallons at a time ...

Ready to drink more better beer for a few months, even if it's less varied ... I have commercial beer for that.
