Our winds are usually from the south-southeast. Nasty Violent weather comes from the southwest, you know, hail etc.

Same here, northern fronts change the weather to cold, they usually come either straight down or from your area, winds from northeast are the norm. Last January was mild, just one front, I had the plants outside for 3 weeks straight. It was 50's to 75°....I'm ready for some of that!
Yeah, too bad we can't just average out our climates - we
could both grow almost year around!

It won't be long, we'll be complaining about the heat!

Got a nice mailing from Sawyer today!  Some new varieties to try out -
Reaper, Funky Reaper, 7 Pot Burgundy, and Bhut Jolokia Yellow.  Oh
yeah, thanks brother John!  Can't wait to grow these out:

Paul your TT’s look very cool in in their color change period, their pod shape/look and upward growth presence looks similar to my ornamental Thai Hot pods.  They are nice little plants; I still can't believe they will go from to seed to fruit on the grow shelf!

Your dehydrated fruit looks like they came out great, bet you couldn’t wait to dig into them \o/  The color isn't too good, but the pieces are nice and sweet

Have you tried powdering and mixing yet? How do you like your mix?  Not yet, but soon!

I stayed away from salt with my fruit mixes but I still use a shaker for distribution and it works fine. On my end I’m still finishing off some of my MoA Peach and Tally Mon Powder batches. Better half’s not been helping as her stomachs been off but #1 has filled in when she dropped out, hehe. The combos are awesome, hope your lovin your pepper fruit mixes too!

Brrr on your weather temps, hope you hab an awesome weekend ^_^
Sorry to hear your honey is not feeling well.  Good luck getting those powders finished.  I'm dragging my feet a little, for some reason.  Guess I'll start with a 50-50 pepper-fruit blend and go from there.

We hit 10˚F last night in Portland.  Here in our yard it was at least 15˚ ( checked at 1:30 AM and again at 7:00 AM, so it could have gone down another degree or two in between).  Yeah, that's cold.  Will have to bundle up well for my morning walk today!  It was only in mid 20's when I went yesterday.  Today should be around 20 by the time I get going.

Have a great finish to the weekend, my friend.  We went to the Trailblazer/Mavericks game last night.  It was a great game.  Portland shot up a 3 pointer to tie at 1.9 seconds remaining, and then Monte Ellis hit a buzzer beater to win the game.  Very exciting.

its gonna be a busy year again for you pauly....i germinated 3 burgandys i went work came back home next thing i know they all dead :(
Ouch!  I hate to hear that, buddy!  Hopefully I'll have better luck,
but I felt the same way when my MoA's didn't make it last season   :mope:

I'm too mean to get sick, Penny   ;)

I have to wear some of my winter camping gear, though!
When it's sunny and cold, the walking is great!

Updated Preliminary Grow List 2014 - Many new varieties and a few repeaters.
This is the third year of my original three year plan to grow a slew of different
types to see what grows well here before settling on some consistent performers.
I'd love to grow some of the new varieties from this season again, and some more
of my favorites from 2012, but not enough space.  But I have seed for my favorites for
season 2015, so I have something to look forward to already!

You're welcome, Paul.  I hope they grow well for you.
I'll definitely keep you posted, John

Thank you, Bill.  Some of these probably won't make it to the
outdoor grow if past experience holds true, but there is enough
there to handle any attrition and still have a little heat left!

Hope you have another awesome grow this season, my friend.
Regards to your family!

Wow......looks like your going to have a great upcoming season, and a busy one too!!
Pepper growing has become a year-round occupation it seems!  I'm hoping
this coming season helps me get down to my 20-25 core varieties that produce
well here, then I can just try a couple of newbies every season!

Nice list Paul.

Based on past experience you're going to be loaded down with pods.

Good luck this year, hope the weather is always in your favor!

Such a wonderful list....ur garden will be full of pods again......
Seems like  long way off, Jericson, but in the meantime all three Tepins on
the grow shelf have a couple of ripe pods on them!

Thanks, Scott.  I've been fortunate; really have more harvest than I can easily use!

Mother Nature is really pretty kind to us here, so I can't complain too much about
the shorter grow season.  That's what banana bags are for!

Here a few greenhouse pics.  The lowest temperature in the space
was 40˚F - 45˚F on the coldest nights.  Plants seem to have weathered
that in good shape.  Just a little hardening off!

One of the Orange Rocotos started in August.  The intensity of the T5HO lights made the three branches grow out
laterally when the plant forked, I guess.  It should be awesome in the Spring if it survives the winter in the greenhouse:
_DSC0808a_zps06cbfc7c.jpg

Orange Rocoto (Shane 2012 F1) managed to set four nice pods after going in the greenhouse.
I have pruned the plant back a bit more to ease the load on it as leaves and growth tips have
yellowed a bit.  If it follows last year's form, the pods should ripen up in Feb/March:
_DSC0811a_zps2f73db7e.jpg

Mountain Pepper (Honduran Market) and NuMexTwilight (CPI via Siliman).
Both are putting on some decent new growth:
_DSC0809a_zps8fdcbe22.jpg

One of the Goat's Weed (Shane F1) peppers started
in August; this one from a rista-dried pod's seed.  All
three plants have been pinched twice:

Here is the canopy of a Goat's Weed from Shane's original 2012 seed:

The canopy from the other Goat's Weed (Shane F1), also from a rista-dried pod's seed:
_DSC0813a_zps6a88fd12.jpg

Hopefully all of these will survive the rest of the winter to
hit the ground running in the Spring!

Thanks for looking in.  Hope all are having a good week!

Devv said:
I have no doubt they will both survive and flourish come spring Paul.

Looking good!
That is my hope, Scott, but I suspect that 100% of the greenhouse plants
won't make the winter.  I do have the light in this year, that I didn't have
before, and am keeping it 5-8 degrees warmer this winter, so maybe the
plants stand a better chance.  Also, I don't think I watered enough last year,
especially the grow bags - most of the plants to survive OW were in plastic
pots.

Thanks for the visit, my friend1
