Allright    got a nice sampling of NagaBrain pods from Gary (Windchicken)
in the mail today.   They are nice and firm - the cold weather helped keep them
in good shape!  These pods are from the F2 mother plant; great color and texture:

Will post an interior pic when I cut one open tomorrow!

Thanks, Brother Gary!  Can't wait to grow some of these out!

Here's hoping your T-day was enjoyable!  The same to you, bro!

Pods look wonderful!
The Chocolate Habaneros were nice pods, great color and generally
very healthy looking.  They finished off nicely in the greenhouse last season,
as well.

Hi Paul,
I've been sampling your powders, and enjoying them quite a bit... the kitchen sink powder has a low heat level but good all-around flavor. The pointed yellow hab powder is a little on the mellow side for a hab, but still has decent Chinense heat. The naga bih powder has quite a punch to it... reminds me of that old Muhammed Ali line... "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bih!" Have a great weekend!

  Cheers, buddy!
Hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend with your family.

Your take on the powders is much like mine, Rick.  I like the PYH
for it's more mellow heat.  I'll be grinding a lot of Fatali this winter
for yellow heat!  And some Fatali x Red Savina!     :fireball: Burn!
The topper really is the Naga Morich / Bih Jolokia blend.  May need
to blend some with some Jamaican Red Mushroom or something
just to tame it down a little.  The Kitchen sink has some of your Gochu
powder in it, my friend!

BTW am enjoying your sauce, my friend!  Nice heat and flavor!

Here are a few pics of the NagaBrain pods that Gary (windchicken)
sent for the F3 grow:

Have moved all the Peruvian Aji Amarillo and Goat's Weed (too tall) and Orange Manzano (likes
cooler temps) plants out to the greenhouse.  The Wild Texas Tepins are still in the grow shelf:
_DSC0795a_zps0f7f719c.jpg

The plants are now 105 days from cotys.  I am amazed that they can grow to this stage under the lights.  At some
point I will have to move them to the greenhouse to make room for new starts.  They all have some unique charac-
teristics, but you can definitely see a family resemblance   ;)   They have been in a Happy Frog/Ocean Forest mix,
with low strength fish oil every watering, which is 8oz. every 2-3 days.  This was the first to set pods, in the lower
branches:
_DSC0794a_zps03107fa7.jpg

This one hasn't grown out long bottom branches, but has a nicely shaped canopy:
_DSC0797a_zps00c3d700.jpg

Both this one and the last one are a bit behind the first regarding setting pods, but are making good progress:
_DSC0796a_zps49a39e71.jpg

Now to see if they will ripen up on down the road!

This represents the total production from my grow 2013. The last of the pods are dried and weighed, and I'll
post the tally as soon as it's tabulated.  These were all deseeded except for the last round of Naga Morics
and Bih Jolokias.  Just too many pods to mess with!

Nice pics of the NagaBrains, Tepin chiles and bags O' pods Paul! You definitely haven't been sitting on your hands this fall! It's hard to believe that we'll be starting our long-season peppers in just another 4 weeks or so after the holiday season.

You are right, Rick!  I think I'll be starting a few really slow ripening plants around mid-December.

Here are the dried NagaBrain pods:

Very nice looking tepin you got there Paul... Gotta love those lil balls of fire...
Yeah, they are great little peppers.  I've never gotten one
to really produce. Hopefully, these will make it.

Thanks for visiting, James!

Penny said:
Absolutely, well done Paul. ;)
The plants pretty much grow themselves   :)

Thank goodness

Wow, Paul, I really like your meticulous style. Those Tepins are botanical works of art! And thanks so much for posting pix of the NagaBrains, and thanks especially for helping with the F3 grow! I can't wait to see what your NB plants will look like!
Hey, Gary, thanks for the kind words, brothah!  The Tepins have done
better in the grow shelf than they ever did outside.  If I can just keep
them alive until Spring, they might do pretty well when the warm weather
comes!

The NagaBrains will be one of the points of interest of my grow next season.
Are they a sun-loving variety, or do they like a little shade?
Devv said:
I too am impressed with your record keeping.
That's what happens when you retire
The Tepins look super healthy for sure!
I think they like the 84˚F warmth in their canopies!
Like your grow bench setup, it's doing the job!
It has exceeded my expectations, Scott - I can't wait to get some
chinenses going in there in a couple of weeks.  Oh yeah   :D
Have a great week!
Hey, Scott!  Good week to you as well, bro!

I'm going to give the fruit powders a try.  I cut slices of varying thickness to see what
works the best.  I imagine the key is getting them really rock hard dry.  Anyway put a
few trays i the dryer:

Now that last tray looks delish! ;)
It's just from a little to-go fruit bowl I picked up at the market; just
sliced the pieces up thinner.  I checked the dryer once, and they
may be a little small, we'll see when they are done.  I don't usually
dry fruit so this is an experiment for sure.  I did taste a piece of pear,
and you know what?  The racks have picked up heat from all the
peppers I've dried in there, and the pear had a bit of spicy flavor!

Here's a couple of fun lists:
37/24, 36/28, 32/21, 30/21, 33/27, 33/23, 31/21, 34/27, 37/24
37/22, 32/17/ 31/23, 31/19, 34/19, 33/20, 32/?
These are two of the forecasts for the near future for our neighborhood.
They will def change as we go forward, but we're still in a solid 8b
zone.  this is usually as cold as it gets here, the once in a blue moon
it can get colder.  We'll lose some outdoor plants in this round, and others
will take a beating.

This is why we can't grow peppers outdoors year-round here

Good on ya for trying the fruits, I'm sure you'll like the results!

Those forecast temps...uh they suck..hope you don't lose any plants.

We're getting the cold for Sat. high of 36°, so not Tejas Dec. weather!

Stay warm and enjoy!
