First pull from the Red Savina. Still two or three times
this number of pods on the plant, lots ripening nicely.
These remind me of Caribbean Red Habaneros.

I am glad this one has pulled through. The last time
I tried to grow a Red Savina a number of seasons
ago, I accidentally killed it.

Nice haul @PaulG! The pods are coming! That Nesco sure wasn't getting a break this year :P
Thanks, HM! Wish I could really use all the pods, I have
a ton of dried pods and berries already  .

Unfortunately the thermostat is wonky so it's running
hotter than I like. Makes saving the seeds dicey. I need
to get a thermocouple for it.

Good haul Paul - hah poetry this time of the morning :D
Thanks, Tink! Nothing like a little breakfast chili!

Nice one Paul, that is a beautiful cache right there :)
Thanks, Lourens, A lot more to come if the weather holds.

Those savinas are real beauties!
Agreed, Marc, I wish I could eat them like candy!

So, how long did it take you to wash, wax and polish each one of those Red Savina pods? :D:rofl:
🤣 An electric toothbrush with Turtle Wax really helps.

Hey, Paul. Do you have a favorite of the red habanero you grow as far as flavor? The red savina pods look picture perfect, but the JA pods are some beasts.
This is my first go-around with the Red Savina.
These JA 2019 seed would be around 4th or 5th
generation from Jamaican seed. That's my favorite
of the habanero 'genre'. I suspect the Red Savina
should be a tad hotter.

Oh no, is it running that much hotter? I just burned my first Nesco after roughly 8 years of light use. I started using it a bit more in the past couple of years. I wonder if it can be fixed...

Anyway, I got the small 4 rack Excalibur about a week ago and so far it seems like a step up.

Hope you can get yours figured out - the dehydrators make saving seed a much faster process!

I just ordered a COSORI six-tray. Arrived today,
so it will get a good test right away! One of the
three highest rated (on three different rating sites,
each a different top choice.) I have worn out 2 Nesco,
and the third is wonking out, but still serviceable for
some things. I could still get a thermocouple.

Got the COSORI up and running. I like a lot of the features.
One caveat, the flat trays are a bit trickier than the nice deep
trays on the NESCO, so have to be careful with the small
round berries. I ordered the silicon dryer mesh which is a bit
'sticky' which seems to hold the pods in place.

Decent amount of headroom between the trays. Can
create larger spaces for the big pods by removing a
tray or two. I also like the hinged door on the front,
rather than a pull-off panel.

I like the controls right on the front. Very easy to set up.
Temps programable in 1˚F increments.

I boxed up the NESCO and will keep it as a back-up.

Running an old but solid performer excalibur here. I get relegated to the shed when I run it due to fumes. That COSORI is sexy as, any chance it has an exhaust filtration system built in to control fumes?

Haven't run any super hot chinenses through it, yet.
