Dwarf Chiltepin 'Hermosillo', Semillas la Palma 2022

Time to quit dragging my feet and get this season underway.
Last season was OW plants only with two exceptions. This
year I am growing all new plants from seed gathered from
my 2022 harvest and limited to Tepin and Chiltepin varieties.
If the spirit moves me I might try for some OW chinenses
varieties later on.

Paul have you tried growing the Chiltipin Cappuccino?

Great to see you planting some seeds again, Paul. Hope you have a great season. Keep us posted!
Thanks DR, hope the same for you, buddy. Last year's OW
grow wasn't as satisfying as starting with some seeds!

Paul have you tried growing the Chiltipin Cappuccino?
Yes. I grew it a couple of seasons ago with decent success,
lots of nice coffee-brown berries. The next season, the seeds
from that one produced orange-red berries. Didn't grow it
last year.

Not much going on at the moment. sporadic emergence of
new sprouts. Four varieties well represented, Chiltepin Rojo
3rd and 4th year, Chiltepin Rojo 'Hermosillo' and Texas Hot
Peppers, Tepin. Some signs of life starting to show in some
others, namely Red Tepin, Jeff Contino.

Data in post #2 if interested.

Hey Paul! Long time no chat! Your grow is off to a great start this season!
I hear your truth, brother, good to see you on the forum, Troy!
I have been hit and miss lately, but feeling good about
the upcoming grow season. Good luck to you this season!

It has been three weeks since germination began, so I think
we'll have what we have now for this round of growing, Still
thinking of starting some OW chinense varieties later this Spring.
I am going to pull the plug on the three no-show varieties tomorrow,
barring some unusual circumstance:

*Red Tepin, @Pr0digal_son
*Chiltepin Rojo 'Seguin', wild variety, Devv
*Pequin Rojo, Chihuahua
*flexuosum (shares space with Tepin Contino) so will continue germinating

44% of total sowing

The seed for all the varieties was sourced from a single
dried berry of each. Maybe that was a mistake.

The remaining varieties did well except the Tepin, Jeff Contino,
but there is at least a chance with the single seedling.

*Chiltepin Rojo, OP 2022, 3rd year plant - 7/12, 58%
*Chiltepin Rojo, OP 2022, CPI 4th year plant - 7/12, 58%
*Chiltepin ‘Hermosillo’, Dwarf, OP 2022, Semillas la Palma - 11/12, 92%
*Tepin, OP 2022, Texas Hot Peppers - 11/12, 92%
*Red Tepin, OP 2022, Jeff Contino - 1/6, 16%

Discounting no shows, overall germination rate 69%

Will cull to seventeen seedlings in the future.

Dried berries from the OW Red Tepin, @Pr0digal_son, dried under T5HO
lights on the grow shelf 2/25.

Thanks! Good to see you’re still around as well! I haven’t started a Glog yet, but I do have some seeds in the dirt this year. I started on Feb 25th and had the first signs of life with some hooks on this past Saturday March 2nd which I’m pretty happy with considering all of my seeds are 6-8 years old now, haha.

Great to hear those older seeds are popping up for you.
I always hold my breath with the older ones, but sometimes
get a nice surprise!
