Pepper Sprout Farm 2021

Join me in my 2021 journey from seed to bottle. Still waiting on a few things to come in the mail but I wanted to get some things started. Seven pot primo, red bhut, choc bhut, orange Thai, lemon habanero, red habanero, hot cherry, shishito, poblano, starfish, jalapeno, orange spice jalapeno, Hungarian orange, sweet banana, chocolate beauty bell, California wonder bell.all started with aged compost mixed with a Little pearlite.

Been busy prepping for planting out. Next week peppers go in the ground. Here is a canopy shot of a few super hot varieties in the greenhouse.

A lot of these peppers are ready to go. Cooler temperatures than I would have liked over the next couple of days but from Monday on I should be good to go. Hoping to show you guys more than just greenhouse pictures soon.

Slowly getting things in the ground. Planted Giant Marconi, Gypsy, habaneros, primos, chocolate bhut, reaper, red starfish, long thin cayenne, hot cherry and orange spice jalapeno today. Still plenty more to get in. But they need at least another week in the greenhouse.

That luck has to come in the form of good weather. The time change is giving me the daylight I need at the end of my work day. Just got a hope It's not raining when these little guys get a little bigger.

First orange spice jalapeno has set. I'll probably pick it early along with any other that set in the next week.

Couple of shots from the garden. Many things seem to be in a root building stage so not much growth after all the rains we got. As you can see from the starfish pepper they have taken a little bit of a beating due to the heavy rainfall but they have doubled in size over the last week. Also pictured is the gypsy peppers which are starting to produce and also growing very well

Added another bed with room for six more peppers. 4'x5' I'm thinking Brazilian starfish orange, griff9238 and orange Thai maybe a few dwarf flowers. Waiting a few more weeks to let plants get more growth

Had a break in the rain to get a quick peek at the garden. Cherry peppers getting prolific and a huge Gypsy pepper.

I planted three of these lemon habanero. This one is three times taller though grown in exact conditions. I already know where to look for saving seeds lol

Looking at all the growth tips on that Thai, I think
it is going to explode with pods this Summer! I
really like the growth habit of the Thai-type plants.

Yes the Thai plant is going crazy. one plant is definitely enough for our culinary needs. I'm currently dealing with some small caterpillars on them but going to spray BT this evening

Hurricane Ida came right passed us and many plants were destroyed. However not all is lost. We still have a few plants that managed to keep most their leaves. There are also a few plants that still seem to be alive despite wind defoliation. I've always wanted to experiment with defoliation I guess we will see how these pan out. Pictured is a giant Marconi that is a promising experiments and some of the habanero and chocolate bhut plants that survived.
