So this happened today when my fiancé decided to get this awesome set up for me! It was somehow less than $500!

So it looks like I will be getting an early start right after thanksgiving!

This came from the local hydroponic store. Owner is awesome and threw in some hangers for my light for free!
Right now I am letting the lights prime

No, she was actually suprized I knew my stuff. I knew whet the bulbs were and the name of hydroton and the 1020 flats. She was eager to help my fiancé and I out and gave us some freebies just because. The store is a husband a wife owned business.

I will start peppers at end of december. I will be starting tomatoes for my fiance this coming weekend. Probably tomatoes that have a small compact habit so they can be inside for a while and not be 10 ft tall

I will start peppers at end of december. I will be starting tomatoes for my fiance this coming weekend. Probably tomatoes that have a small compact habit so they can be inside for a while and not be 10 ft tall

I guess you'd be looking for determinate type tomatoes if you want the smaller vines, right?

All depends on the plant but yes I would say your correct

determinates are bullshit. man i hate them.

if you have the space ... go indi all the way. just coil them around a trellis cage thing. those hog fences they sell at tractor supply will make like... 3 medium sized tomato trellesis? you need wire cutters though, or an angle grinder.

determinates literally just commit suicide at like 6 months. i hate that. they still need servicing too because they get so dense you have to prune out some of the bulk just to prevent mildew and spray for horn worms properly.

Virginia... i imagine has like a 7 month growing season? start them like 6 weeks before last frost, then move them outside at 4 weeks, and move them back and forth for like 2 weeks when temps fall below 50f.

Grow season starts just after mothers day in mid to late may and goes to usually mid November here where I am
