PIC 1's......Pod Pornage.............2012

Here's the start on my grow log. Well no pods yet but I have to start somewhere, and away we go!

The seeds in the containers are all c.chinense. They were dunked in a germinating solution for an over-nighter on December 1st.
This was the first phase of the germination process with plantings happening every 2 weeks through the month of January.
The annum species and the mild/medium strains will get planted late Jan through early Feb.

Most of these are "Super-hots.

Here's a shot from today, things are looking up and up.

IMG_2132.jpg

Here's a unique looking seedling. It has 3 cotyledon's and a set of 3 true leaves. The seedling is a Trinidad Scorpion Green, seeds are from Chris (cc). I've seen the triple cotyledon with my Coronong's but not the triple set of true leaves at the same time

Here's another seedling that caught my eye. The leaves are as dark purple as my Dutch.Hot's. This one's the Purple Bhut Jolokia seeds were also from Chris. I know the leaves will eventually turn green.....but right now they look pretty...

Did somebody say "Purple"......Here's one of my overwinters. The Maui Purple. The flowers have set and soon the chili's will form...........yea

And finally another overwinter and was an over-achiever/producer last season. That's why its here. It's's the TS Butch T

More to follow, soon

Greg

Greg always hand down perfect presentation in everything from your plants, pods, and preparation. Can not wait to see your indoor setup and follow that progress again.

Looking good as always. Next year I won't be growing Naga Morich since I have pretty much this years whole harvest in the freezer and still some from last year. I still remember the sweet flavor of those Bombays you sent me. Not as hot as the Naga Morich IMO, but a great flavor trumps high heat in my book anymore. I will have to get seeds for them sometime. I can see them making a great puree.

BTW I will be getting some Nard seed out to you here in the next week or so,

I am going to take some cuttings from my o/w candidates first, then get hardcore with few o/w's that are gonna go inside-I live in bug heaven unfortunately.

Howdy Folks !...........Sorry for the lack of updates, there hasn't been much happening outdoors with the garden as of late...
Although I've been busy "Jammin, Saucing, Smoking, Powdering"......and processing peppers...................Ha, The pepper patch
is coming to an end for the season . So, I'll share some closing photos....

Greg, when I first saw this post I was amazed by it. This is really a great shot and the Pepper Loving Camera Gods were all alighned for you to get it. So, I was cruzing through the old posts the other day and I came back to it and just had to grab and save a copy. So here's what I did with it and it is PERFECT for this application.

Now I get to see peppery goodness all day long at work and it's a better day. :)

Have a great weekend.
Bill

I've also got another idea but I'm not sure on it yet. If I do it I'll let you know. Again, Great shot.

Greg, how many full time employees do you have running that pepper farm you’ve got running at home *rolleyes* (sarcasm) .

In all seriousness I had no idea what a true professional you are, totally epic! Since I don’t know much about the great up north grow process I really enjoyed reading your OW process tutorial, I’m extremely impressed with everything ^_^
OMG and I thought I was doing ok with 2 or 3 pound harvest ... first I see your 5 gallon buckets then later you fill bushels, holy moly!!! You’ll have to keep me posted if and when you start out the JA seeds, thanks for sharing :)

Wow Bill, I'm impressed...thanks for the compliment and taking the time to screen that photo. I did a bit of that type of photography during my 2011 glog. Always trying to get a weekend harvest photo. I use to think...there's probably some wicked looking peppers at the bottom of the pile, (probably was) but when the bucket(s) got dumped its all in which the way the peppers fall..............ha. No adjustments for the photo.

Thanks again for the "blast from the past"...I'll have to go back through them myself one day to see what I can improve on for 2013.

Thanks Ramon,
If I could get all my pepper eating friends to help out that would be great. I'll have to delegate authority to someone next time my wife and I travel......the garden can always use some attention.

I'm glad to see you're enjoying your stay here! Theres plenty of info and idea exchanging on the forums. Mostly good.............hah

I've been at this for 30yrs........my mom's turning 90 in a couple of weeks and she still has her gardening gloves...but thanks to my sisters Nina and Yvonne, for giving her a couple of extra helping hands with her modest garden.

After all this years I still favor the flav of the Scotch Bonnet. This year will be a Bonnet blow-out grow. I grew to many different peppers this season. Many were cool to look at and firey hot, I 'll have a few but I really like things that taste good...right?
So I'm concentrating on the flavor this upcoming season....

Oh, and for sure there will be some nice shots of the red crevassed pods........yum

have u saved seeds of this flying saucer my friend?
if so will you germinate them next season?

its shape makes me wanna flying outer-space! :high:
I have seeds...these "discs" were grown from pods sent to me by Romy6 (Jamie). They are either the Jamaican Red Squash or perhaps the Aji Dulce (Chato). I will sow some seeds for these....keeping the best plant for the garden.

That one interests me as well, very nice looking pepper … Greg, how’s it taste?
Hey Ramon, yes the shape is consistant with all the pods on the plant. The flavor is somewhere between bland and sweet.........ha (bad discription). Not much spice to this one thats why I believe its an "Aji". It does have a nice crunch and I've added to "Pico's and Chutney's" as well breakfest omlets.

Hi Greg, just stopped by to say 'Hi' and wish you and your family
all the best for the upcoming holiday season.

Good luck with your OW's! Mine are still alive, and I see little green
bumps at lots of nodes, and a few leaves pushing out. I haven't done
the washing/sterilizing thing yet. Some of my OW's are in the garage,
so there is significant air exchange with the outside. Same for the
greenhouse plants. These are not climate controlled or air tight spaces,
so I'm not sure if the steps you go through for your indoor grow room
are necessary for me. I had next to no pest or disease issues this year,
other than normal cold weather yellowing and fungal stuff. I'll be keeping
a close eye on them to head off any pest issues. The greenhouse is the
most susceptible due to it's nature. When they start to get a foothold,
I just trim the affected parts off the plant. When I trim it back to the second
forks, I give 'em a good shot of Neem. So far so good. Will try to post a pic
or two when they grow out a bit.

Thanks for all the advice and support you shared with me this year. Your
information and glog are always right on and trustworthy. You exemplify
the THP spirit, my friend!
 Best holiday wishes for you and your family!

Just read Paul’s post and wanted to second his thought wishing you and family happy holidays From reading some of your posts I’m getting the feeling you’re close to pulling the trigger on a new glog, wishing you great success in 2013 and looking forward to see what you’ll have going. I’m still a noob to THP and learning from all you guys, thanks \o_

I have to admit I copied the idea and grabbed that photo for my wallpaper. At least until I take my own harvest photo of hundreds of chillies!

This glog was started a year ago yesterday.... does that mean its time for a new one?

Hey greg. Just reiterating the above. Merry Christmas to you and yours!! Make it a chilli one in a good sense :D... I am sure you will.
Cheers Trippa

Thanks Ramon,
This months just flying by......the grow rooms are clean and the bags of potting medium are stacking up.....After Jan 1st I 'll be starting the waves of seed flats....yea!

I have to admit I copied the idea and grabbed that photo for my wallpaper. At least until I take my own harvest photo of hundreds of chillies!

Hey Mega, thanks for the kind words and good observation on last years startup date. The new glog will start soon, The seeding process will happen in stages and I have to admit I fIred everything up too early last year. i was potting up more than I expected.......extra "dirt" and higher electric bills. The bottom line is.........I Can't Wait !

Thanks Tripp,
