Pick me ups - Sleep aids

So i have a really hard time falling sleeping. But if i fall asleep, i can sleep for upwards of 12 hours, if im not bothered, and still not want to wake up. I dont have money to see a doctor and i have not seen one about this yet.

Besides masturbating, what do you do to relax and get to sleep?

And when you wake up, what gets you going? and what keeps you going all day?

No caffeine 4 to 5 hrs before bed.
OTC sleep aid 1 hour before, black coffee after.

Working rotating shifts for over 20 years now and I always get 6 to 7 hours of snooze time on work days.
About once a month I'll get a nice 12 hr snooze.

Ear buds with something really boring or binaural beats helps sometimes.

Tylenol's Simply Sleep is pretty good for just getting one to sleep and nothing else. I'd really recommend you see a doctor when you can - there is likely a free clinic you can go to in your area - within a reasonable drive, since you're in the Chicago area. OTC sleep aids can become addictive, but a doctor may prescribe something that won't. Also, it's good to identify why you're having the problem so it can be treated appropriately - sleep aids may simply mask a bigger problem.

The Irish Car Bomb
Enjoy one (or two) before bed!

8 ozs. Guinness® Stout
1 shot Jameson® Irish whiskey
(optional) 1/2 shot Bailey's® Irish cream

Of course you’ll have the second half pint of Guinness left over…
It is sinful to waste it: so…. I always drink a second one and
I’ve never had a problem getting to sleep….(a bed should be nearby).

I've had similar issues over the years and this is what I have found to be best:

1. No internet or TV within 90 minutes of entering bed. This is a must.
2. No reading 30 minutes before bed.
3. No caffeine 5 hours before bed.
4. No alcohol 2 hours before bed.
5. No wireless RF in the bedroom - put the wireless router on a timer if need be and fully shut down computer(s) "Airports"
6. All cell phones turned off.
7. Shoot for a very, very dark room, less than 1 lumen.

If all of the above does not work, try meditation and if that doesn't work resort to melatonin or kava on a limited basis.

Good luck!

Seriously look into melatonin. It's your body's natural sleep hormone. Very cheap for a bottle. I take 3x 3mg pills before bed each night. Just allow yourself 8 hrs to sleep or you'll have a groggy hangover trying to wake up too early. You build up a tolerance fairly quickly though where you'll be able to decide how much is right for you.

If you start taking melatonin, it's just like anything else. Your body will stop producing its own and come to expect the unnatural supplement unless you do a sleep study and diagnosed with low levels, I wouldn't get used to taking it.

Naturally if you over sleep you will feel groggy and tired and want to keep sleeping. More sleep does not = energy when you wake up. Set an alarm and prevent yourself from sleeping so long or else you will always feel that way. Then when your body and mind finally adjust later in the day, you can't fall asleep because you slept so long. It's a vicious cycle. You have to force yourself into a proper cycle before it happens naturally.

Work out. It works wonders.

I have fibromyalgia, which prevents me from getting deep sleep without some sort of aid. Yes, I work out, and no, physical exhaustion doesn't make a difference. That's why I recommend getting it checked out by a doctor - could be a medical condition that needs more than standard treatment.

wow ok so i have a good long list of things im gonna try. of course the night after i post this i passed out at 11pm and woke up at 7am haha a perfect 8 hours.
