Pickled Okra

Any of y'all like pickled okra? Here is a jar from some okra I grew in this years garden. Naturally I have some burn in the okra via cayenne peppers which I also grew. I think for next year I will use some habs instead

I tried okra and didn't like it. To me it tastes like old dry nasty cucumbers.

Dry? I never had 'em dry. Or even seen 'em dry before. Sounds like you had some really old okra.

They weren't dry. But they tasted like that. It seems to be one of those foods you either love or hate. I even dislike the smell of them when they're fresh from the market.

armadillo, even you would like my pickled okra. I dont like it fried but pickled with some hot peppers is hard to beat!

I don't know what to tell you, but one of the very foundations of my education when I grew up was "Never eat "old" Okras...". if as a child I'd bring full grown Okras to my grandma to cook, she'd send me back to bring some "younger" ones. they just don't taste as good when mature. they're great in cooking, especially with Kubbeh. :)

true. Its gotta be really firm, or else it tastes like sh*t. A couple of friends of mine in NC pickle them, and they're so firm when they do it that the okra 'snaps' when you bite into it(even after being pickled)....the stuff was awesome.
