Pine trees a problem for peppers?

My proposed chilli/pepper grow site is surrounded by pine trees, and I was wondering if this might be an issue for my plants?

No, they likely won't cross....
I take it you're worried about shade. I'd imagine you'd be getting some searing hot days in summer and they'd probably be begging for a little shade anyway.

Nah, mate - I know the soil is more acidic under a pine tree, so thought that might be an issue. Reckon a pine's no problem?

I can't say that I know if the soil is any good. Perhaps a PH test is in order. Or some advice from the folks who know.

Agreed, large trees of any kind will sap the water from your plants.

I do know that pine needles kill any surrounding grass but not sure how plants hold up to it.

I'm pretty sure the grass dies because of the high acidity (read low pH) of the soil...I know azealeas love pine straw and pine bark mulch...

just don't know how acidic the soil gets...never had it measured...
